Depends on the year of the car. 86-88 its about 6800rpm. The newer engines have lighter rotors and can rev higher. They're tachs read 1000 higher than us poor 86-88 hence their buzzer goes off at a higher rpm. Did not answer your question because I have a 86/87 and it goes off at 6800. When I get a newer car I'll let you know what it buzzes at. Probably 8000rpm. You a F-16 mechanic?

On my 87 TII it went off at around 7K. On my convertible it used to go off at 8K because I kept the NA instrument cluster. Now that I have the Wolf 3D it never goes off.

The buzzer in my '87 TII goes off ~6800rpm. The car doesn't actually have a rev limiter, does it? With a rev limiter, shouldn't the tach hould bounce up and down at a certain rpm?

On a related note, when does the factory revlimter engage on an '87 Sport. I know that the buzzer sounds at 6800rpm, but when does the ECU start dropping plugs from the firing order?

86-88 n/a=6800rpm buzzer, rev limit =7600rpm
86-88 t2= the same as n/a
89-91 n/a=7800rpm buzzer, rev limit = 8600rpm
89-91 t2= 6800rpm buzzer, rev limit = 7600rpm
