When to change engine?
Just passed 180,000 miles on my original engine going to work today, I'm planning to do a "planned" overhaul, i.e. hope it doesn't crap out on me before I'm on vacation for a week. Question is, should I plan on it in Jun (it'll have about 188,000 on it then) or my Sept vac (192,000)? Or beyond? I know a bunch of you guys have been "in this boat" before, when did you rebuild yours, or when did it crap out on you? She's still running good, 90+ psi both rotors, oil changes, etc...Plan on going with the rotary aviation rebuil kit and all new housings, if it'll last long enough to stockpile the parts!l

Ha,ha, I would LOVE to do that, but since I drive 50 miles to work each day on a dark, lonely highway (coming home), I would rather not take the chance

I must ask, why not just keep driving it until it gets a little weak? Mine, '89 TII, started acting up at 157,000. Drove fine with no problems until heavy boost in 3rd. Installed a Mazda remanufactured.
My everyday car is a Grand Cherokee with 213,000 miles. I'm just going to keep drivin' it. My wife's Grand Cherokee with 80,000 miles has had more problems than mine!
If you're really concerned about reliability, just pull and "rebuild" at your convenience.
