When adding redline tranny fluid........

I drained the tranny by removing each of the 2 drain plugs, and each of the 2 fill plugs. How much new fluid do I put in each fill hole? 1 QT in one and 1 QT in the other?

I assume this is for a T2, since the NA only has one drain and one fill.

On the T2 (correct me if I'm wrong here guys), you fill from the very top hole, until fluid comes out the lower hole. Then cap both. Obviously after replacing the drain plugs

what is needed to fill the transmission on an N/A? Do I need an oil fill pump? Or do I fill it from the top, like most cars?

Most cars fill manual transmissions from the top? Wow. news to me. In the 5 cars I've owned, none have been from the top, but hell, what do I know

You need a fluid hand pump (your local pepboys/autozone/kragens will have one). 14mm wrench, and I think a 21 or 19mm socket to remove the drain. Remove the fill plug first (so you know you can fill the tranny), then the drain. Replace the drain when empty, and fill to the brim of the fill hole with your favorite 75w90 (I use Redline MTL) Then go wash your hands, that stuff STINKS.

SO the fluid hand pump also works for the ATF trick heh?
Does it also work for the rear end?

Yes for the rear end. Just did it last weekend.. Spilled some too. what a mess, you can still smell it.

You damn well shouldn't be pumping that much ATF into the engine. spoonful... Not from the pump.

Is there an ideal tool for pumping ATF into the engine? I always thought you use that fluid hand pump to pump ATF into the engine......

Help...

So I put a little of ATF syrup into the spoon and feed the rotary a very small spoonful??? I thought the spark plugs are horizontal?

I want to get this straight, which spark plug holes do I fill ATF to?

LOL.. Smells great doesn't it That happened when I first pulled the dead motor out of the FC, up comes the engine, down the rear of the tranny... Hey, you smell something? GACK

A good spoonful or two is fine telus. Don't try to feed too much. If you want, use the hose that comes with the pump, just remove it, stick in the spark plug hole, and dribble some fluid down the hose.

I don't think the spark plug matters.

See! Even better.. A turkey baster. Just don't use Moms/wifes/GFs. They get mad. Trust me on that.

Oh, and don't think you're going to use it for christmas either.

SilkWarm, I found that funny! Every tutorial that talks about car maintenance using a turkey baster, the writer would tell us to buy a new one rather than using the one in the kitchen! GOod call!

geez.. i've LOADED UP on atf before.. I have one of those little oil pump dudes, and i stuck a vacuum hose at the end, and emptied maybe 10 ounces into my engine--distributed equally across the faces.. Granted, a boatload of it dripped out, but I'm sure i got about half of that in there... No problem starting it...heh

In my last fill, I would buy 3 bottles of transmission conditioner (1.3qt), 1 qt of RedLine, and 0.2qt of anti leak. My transmission would basically run on conditioner!
