?????whats happening?????

i took my turbo FC to a service station to get it to pass emissions and get horns installed. On the way home, all of the sudden, a loud buzzing sound started going off from the steering column. I dont know what this means because no lights came on, and the only lights that came on where the add coolant and the charge light on the center dash. it may be grounding problems or something wrong with a fuse. does anyone know what is causing this electric malfunction?

heh, take it back and tell them they broke it and you need a new radiator and alternator (FD of course.)

On the other hand, their might be an air blip in the radiator. Happens to me whenever I go and flush the radiator. Two weeks or so and bleeds itself out. Not too bad if you don't feel like going back to bleed it yourself (saying im lazy and want to lax after flushing the radiator.) Coincidentaly... ALWAYS if the "ADD COOLENT" light or the "ADD OIL" light come on, the buzzer will go off. It would not go off for the charging light, however.

The charging light... To be honest, I'm not sure. Maybe the rest of the guys could help you out on that. To my knowledge on most S5's (89-91)when your alternator over or under charges (either bad voltage regulator, slipping/broken belt) all of the idiot lights will come on.
I was driving one day and all the lights lit up, I pulled over, and sure enough, my alternator belt had ripped apart, and was laying off on the road. Suprisingly, my Die Hard had enough juice left to power the car all the way home (30 some miles.)

The charge light will come on when the battery is being discharged. If the battery is being discharged, the alternator is not meeting the electrical load requirements. Need to change alternator. Also, the factory service manual says that if all the idiot lights light up, the alternator is usually bad. Since you only had 2 lights, have the alternator replaced and add coolant. There is a bleeder screw on the radiator so air can come out when you add coolant. If air is in there, the sensor won't stay wet, causing the annoying buzzer.

You're in Rapid? hmm.. Coincidetaly, I thought the bleeder screw was only on S4's?

Edit: which he has and doesn't imply to me, NM
Edit: Proj84, you want to help with a auto to manual swap!!?? I know how much we all love dealing with 13 years of rust and corrosion. Let me know, probably within the next week or so.

mmm... someone sells FD alternators (an upgrade from the FC) on here for... I think its around 100-120? Someone will probably shout out to him when they read this.

Edit: Black7 had one for sale a few weeks ago, he might still have it. Otherwise I thought there was someone who had them stocked?
