fatter wheels will give you the better handling without affecting your gear ratios & power levels. Bigger wheels do look better though. I've heard you can fit 18x9 in the rear and 18x7.5 in the front on stock wheel wells. I'm not 100% sure about rubbing issues though.

There are larger/wider aftermarket fenders though to help with rubbing.

KYB or Tokico are good recommendations for springs & shocks. I personally like the OEM dampending rates, but a little harder or adjustable shocks allow more flexibility between handling & ride comfort.

Coilovers will give you the ultimate rideheight adjustability (with you in the car even), but they're pretty stiff & tend to bottom out on potholes. They do work well with track racing though

I honestly think 16" wheels will be a better balance overall if you were going non-turbo Fc. If you went turbo Fc, I wouldn't go much bigger than 17". I feel these sizes give the best balance between looks, and overall performance.

I just got 17x7 rims for my car. They look wicked. Not sure how they will affect the car though, they are not on yet and my car is off the road just for a lil bit so I can save some cash. But I think that 17's look wicked for sure, 18's look even better but only in the back, they look oversized in the front.

I just bought some 18x7's all the way around running 215/40 series tires. IMHO, they do not look too big, though the overall diameter is bigger than my 14's. They fill up the wheel-well nicely. i do think going with 215/30's may be a mistake. you are just begging for a bent rim, so make sure you keep up with the air pressure.

Nect on my list are Tokico struts and Intrax springs. I think the springs drop the car about 1.6" all the away around, though I will double check. there shouldn't any rubbing, but if there is, I will prolly just mount the wheels a bit farther out. the 7's give plenty of room to play with.

i don't have any pics yet, but I will post some soon.

I HAVE 16 X 8 IN THE BACK AND 16 X 7 IN THE FRONT. I HAVE DUNLOP D40 M2'S: 225/50 IN THE BACK AND 205/55 IN THE FRONT. THE DIFFERNCE IN COMPARISON TO STOCK IS INCREDIBLE. ALL POSITIVE THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THIS EXACT SETUP. MY CAR ISN'T EVEN LOWERED AND IT LOOKS GREAT.
