I must agree. I know a guy who has used Amsoil in his engine and transmission since he bought his '87 SE, and it is stillrunning at 288k miles. Doesn't feel a day over 4 years old.

Oh yeah, Aaron, I like Amsoil too, but have not had good experiences with their series 2000 75W90, the smurf juice, which I assume is the one you're talking about? I think it's too slippery, and I read somewhere that manual trans need some friction for the syncros to work properly, not sure, I'm no mechanic.

I use their motor oil religously though, great stuff! Do you use it in your 7? I'm thinking about changing to it, but a little hesistant. I will go to it soon, since I believe synthetics have made great stride since the old days where Mazda recommended not using syn.

BTW I did email both Redline and Amsoil regarding using syn in rotaries, both have responded positively, so just thought I let people know, I know it's off topic, so sorry about that!

i use a 50/50 normal tranny juice and a ATF.. worked great to get rid of my gear grinding.. p.s- n/a trannys suck.. I have talked with a few people that have used everything under the sun in the tranny with no luck and the best thing they said theve tryed was ATF.. try 50/50 if that doesnt work try 100/0

ok, here's something I've noticed.

MT90 is transmission fluid, which is best used in automatic transmission

75W-90 is gear oil, which is best used in Manual transmissions and differentials.

Those who have had problems, did you use the tranny fluid? That stuff isn't quite right for a manual transmission. Could that perhaps be the problem?

yeah, I just bought 5 quarts of 75W-90 for my tranny (NA) and my rear diff (LSD)...so of course, now I'm paranoid that I did the wrong thing

I believe MT90 is NOT for automatic transmissions. It is specifically designed for manual transmissions, hence "MT." The 90 is for the thicker formulation as in 75w90.

MT90 and MTL are both manual transmission oil with GL4 rating.

Redline's 75W90, is GL5 and can be for manual trans or diffs. Although I've heard that 75W90NS is made more for trannies, or non-LSDs, and the regular 75W90 i smore designed for LSDs, since it's got LSD additive inside.

Hey, the NEO RHD, and HD, Does that stand for "real heavy duty, or race heavy duty?" So is the RHD better on new trannies, while HD better for used?

Thanks!
