do s5 gauge clusters work with s4's

I've got an 88 turbo II and my tachometer dosn't work. I'm just wanting to get a new gauge cluster but like the look of the s5 ones. I was curious...do the s5 guage clusters plug into the s4 harness on the back?

if so i'll go ahead and get an s5 turbo II gauge cluster.

thanks,
Marshall

they do plug into one another but the actual wiring is different...there is a write up on how to do the conversion--you just need to switch the order of some of the wires!
Hey we have the same name-not many Marshall's around!

First, are you sure that your non-working tach is because of a broken instrument cluster? Have you checked the wiring, fuses, etc? 2nd, yes there are a few pins that need swapped. I have a S5 N/A cluster in my S4. Check out this thread I posted a while back..

Also, why not get a S5 N/A gauge cluster? You can have a higher redline indicated (for that future streetport and light flywheel ) and a volt gauge as well. PLus the stock boost gauge is about worthless anyway once you start modding.

Check the fuses that are under the dash by your left knee. One of them is the tach fuse. I was having problems with my power windows once, and was testing them with my portable DC power supply, and accidentally put a little too much voltage through the circuit, and for some reason it blew the tach fuse.. I dont remember exactly which one it is, but its one of them under there.
