Whats the best tranny fluid?

I know some people will say Redline MT90 but is there any other good stuff? I'm swaping engine/tranny and need to know what tranny fluid I should get. Thanks

I know everybody will say "REDLINE"

In my personall experience with Red line, all I can say is that it sucks when used in a FC NA tranny.

Three tranny died on me after changing to red line, between 2 to 3 months after changing the oil

that or I just had a incredible BAD luck!

Re: Re: Whats the best tranny fluid?

I like Red Line, but the other synthetics are fine. Mobil1 has a reputation for eating synchros, but I have not been able to confirm this.

I used to use MTL before the days of MT90.

Bad luck, or you went too long between oil changes.

Look it up in the owner's manual or the service manual.

can anyone elaborate on this stuff? i saw it (and i can get it cheap) via a truck parts supplier, i saw it on the shelf while picking up u-joints for the rear diff on one of our western stars.

i was reading it, and i thought i may be able to add the mixture to the differential.. and then occured to me that i might be able to add it to the transmission..

comments anyone?

You have "Mustang GT" listed as your car in your profile. You may find an answer to how much oil the transmission holds on a Mustang internet forum.

Dunno, but If i were registered at a mustang internet forum, i'd list my car as a 90 GTU rx-7. I wonder how many people would tell me to find an rx-7 internet forum.

I do have a Mustang GT. I also have 2 RX7's. Does it matter if I put my Mustang as my car?

Bad luck, or you went too long between oil changes.
I think it was more like bad luck.....

But I have tried the:

MTL
MTL 90
Blue Shock

The best results were from the blue shock, IT ROCKS, but then again the tranny lasted 3 weeks after the fluid change.

So I decided to get a FULLY rebuilt tranny from Rob @ Pineapple Racing, after explaining my problems, he did mention that he doesn't recommend red line for the Rx-7 trannys. Now I don't know if he said that because he was trying to hang up on me, make me feel better, or something.

All I know is that I have had BAD experiences with Red line and NA tranny, and Rob agreed with me.

Hopefully is just bad luck, but I am too scare to go back to Red Line!

I heard redline eats synchros too... but i've had nothing but good luck in my previous NA, and my brother's, and my girlfriend's talons.

I will be using redline in my t2. unless someone can convince me otherwise

thats wierd..

um..

my 2nd gear synchro is beginning to 'go'. i cant really compare it to anything though.. ive only had the car for a few months, and within the first few weeks i changed to redline MT90.. it made a noticeable change, and i was suddenly able to downshift into 1st!

im beginning to wonder if the 2nd gear synchro is due to the redline fluid?!

how can anyone possibly know/prove that its the fluid eating the synchro?

Don't take my word on it, I am not really a technical guy, much less have a concrete proof of my bad luck. I am just staiting my experience with Red Line. It seems I am the only one who have had problems with Red Line........

Something to think about!

So is there anything else good to use besides redline then? I don't know if I want to use Redline now from what you people are saying.
