Question whats this?????!!!!!!

After I changed my alternator I noticed one of my sensors was broke. I moved the fuel injector wire harness out of the way to clean under the alternator and one of the sensors broke off at the base. Its the one on the ACV (I believe thats what it is) with the two prong conneter. Now my car wont start. I thought that it was flooded real bad so I ran all the procedures and still no start. All I would like to know is that if this part would make my car not start and where can I get one?

sorry bout the three posts (web page cant load lol) but any way I dont have a scanner but in the haynes manual its on the acv (on page #162) its the sensor that is round with the wore that get covered by the black pointing arrow( or what ever you call it??). It connects to the base of the acv. I have no idea what it is or what it does. or in the box next to the main pic its the one that runs paralel to the neck. hope this helps. thanks brian

the ACV is nowhere near the alternator...are you sure it's the ACV?...the two solenoids on the ACV are the port air and the switching solenoid, neither of which should cause any problems with the car starting, unless you've shorted the wiring....now, the plug that usually gets broken while messing with the alternator is the water thermo sensor- it WILL give you problems, it is usually green in color- is that what you're refering to?

that's the port air solenoid valve- it has no function after the car has over 20,000 miles on it (this is on an '88, anyway)...the ECU won't activate it after that 20K mileage switch kicks in...how can you be having probs with it?

it sounds like you broke the connector for the crank angle sensor.
it's located behind the alternator and it looks like you've described.

I just changed my alternator yesterday so u got me cognfused.

check that connector as well it might be it.

sorry but its on the other side of the engine bay. what I did was take the whole wire harness out of the clamps that hold it in place and ripped off all that old insulated tape and wraped it with some new tape. in the process i broke the sensor off while disconnecting it from the harness. all the other wire connections are fine. The reason that i did this is because my alternator wires were touching so i figured I would tape the whole front of the wire harness while the alternator was out. ( this is the harness that has the fuel injectors and all the other connectors on it.
