Well, my guess is that if they were both the same years (eg. both 86-88 or both 89-91) then it would run real shitty and produce bad results due to the different fuel maps, and if they were from different years, then the connectors would be different and it wouldn't plug in right anyway.

The PRESSURE/BOOST sensor is different in the turbo vs the n/a. The fuel injection system relies a lot on a good reading from the Pressure/boost sensor. See the fsm and the Fuel section on the n/a and the tubo and the testing of the pressure/boost sensors. That said, the car will start and run. I swapped a n/a ( N326) into a turbo(N332) once as a ts measure. There is nothing to be gained and a lot to lose by doing this.
