Okay in the first image, what is that thing? It's located behind the air pump, the "T" shape thing on the piece can twist, feels like it closes and shuts something inside. What is it and what does it do?

Second picture, its the item to the right of the first item. It looks like a PCV valve, but I have no idea whats its function is.

its a custom home-depot deal... and its ugly as ****, but does the job i guess.

basically the previous owner plumbed the airpump directly into the cat/auxilary port actuators.

the valve ("T-shape thing")there is setup to open the actuators at a RPM, so dont mess with it. But it looks like you already did, so it needs to be set again.

the actuators are connected to sleves inside the block that rotate, they stay closed at lower rpm, then open up a higher RPM. The barrel looking things in the background are the actuators, they're set up like this -- > \ /

not rich, just not optimum performance. The computer takes care of your afr (air-fuel ratios).

if your running rich it because a sensor is dead an the computer is setting a safe value for it.

check error codes if your hunting a problem (do a search for checking error codes/pulling error codes)

use an LED, or a voltmeter both are effective.

if your having problems passing emissions, its because your missing emission-reducing devices. That homedepot fix is in place of it.

the plate thats bolted to the lower intake manifold is where the doodads go-- directly behind the home-depot device. Go to the boneyard and pull it, its really not that big of a deal to acomplish, pull the hose that hook up to it.

lets see... here are some facts, so you can conclude on how do set it right.

1) the T unscrewed all the way out will open your sleeves too early
2) the T screwed all the way in wont allow your sleeves to open at all.

so do this, screw that t thing all the way down and go for a drive.
at a SAFE location and SAFE conditions go Wide open throttle in 2nd gear, starting at 2000 rpm.

notice where the power falls off -- RPM wise, this might take a few tries to make sure its where its falling off.

adjust the T screw in maybe 1-2 turns at a time.

When the power suddenly picks up where the power fell off previously , then its set right.
