for the secutiry system, if you have the light you have a secutiry system, it just tells you when it is armed and like when you open your door the ligt blinks

thats why im so confused, i think its messing with a sensor or something. My power door locks are kinda half-assed dying...i have to push down and pull up the drivers side like 8 times to get the passengers to lock/unlock.
edit: example:
cool summer night, pull into driveway for 20 minute stop w/ windows down. Get out of car and because of habit, lock doors, hold handles up, go in house....
10 minutes later i hear my alarm go off for no reason...i should tape it one time, its fairly amusing

Maybe someone added a feild sensor to the stock alarm and it is adjusted wrong???
Does the alarm go off if you arm it and wave your arm around inside??? it shouldn't unless there is some sort of extra sensor added on.

My will go off sometimes. Depending if it wants to be nice to me or not. It'll arm sometimes too... She has mood swings... It seems
If I have my windows down and lock my door, but I forget if the alarm beep at me or not that it is armed, and I unlock the door w/o the key, it'll go off. Another incident is when my mom was in the car, I hopped out, locked the doors before she had even gotten out.... closed mine.. she unlocked the door, opened it up and it went off.
I think that's just strange. Sometimes the car will let the alarm work, other times it's just .. not even a alarm system ...

I have no alarm on my N/A ... but I have just started driving my 10 AE around now I got it up and running... it has the factory alarm, it has gone off on its own free will at least 3 times .. and I have only had a battery in it less than 3 weeks... I figured it was a common glitch I have it on my list to search for a fix. (other issues first) .. so I guess this is not a common issue? mine seems to have a mind of its own, infact it went off one nite while I was fukin sleeping and it was in a locked garage (Didn't really relize I had armed the alarm, its habbit to lock from the inside and hold the handle, thats how I lock my N/A) Needless to say I was pissed! I wanted to shoot a neighbor for having there car alarm go off in the middle of the nite .. come to find out its my AE in the locked garage ... I figured it was hungy or somthing .. so I sat in it and had a smoke with her. She didn't act up the rest of the nite.

I just had a thought ... is the "glass breakage detector" standard .. cause that is a add on in the options list of my AE factory sticker... I wonder if thats whats going off? I assume it is some kind of a sound detector? where would that be located... and is it adjustable?

The sensors work on one sensor sending out a signal and the other reading the reflection of the signal. If the air density changes, the signal will take longer or shorter to bounce and return to the second sensor. That change in time (10ths of milliseconds) is what triggers the alarm. The idea is that breaking a window changes that air density in the vehicle, so it makes it a lot less prone to large trucks or airplanes false triggering the security system.
Luckly that system was only on the 10thAE. It was really the forerunner to the current feild disturbance or what is commonly called radar sensors. It can be compaired to the current interior sensors, the same way as compairing a pencil to a ball point pen.

As covered many times...
To arm a 88, make sure the hood and trunk are closed. Lock both the passengers and drivers door from the inside, and hold the exterior door handles while closing so they don't unlock.
The light should be on solid when this happens.
After about 10-15 seconds, the light should start flashing, then beep. It will flash once every 3 or 4 seconds at that point and is armed.
To disarm, use the key turning to the unlock position in either front door (or the trunk of 'verts) and the factory system will disarm.
If your car does not work that way, then you will need to fix one of the switchs that is broken.
