Cool What Is This Rx7?

I'm new to owning an RX 7 and I obviously don't know much about them. Does anyone know how to tell what one is? Like what's an S4 or S5 or FC or any of those terms. I'm not sure what mine is or if there's anything good about it therefore I don't know what parts to buy for it because I don't know the style. On my Title for the car it says (YEAR: 1987) (MAKE:MAZDA) (MODEL: ) (STYLE: ) (SERIES BODY:RX7CP). Is it a CP? If so, what the hell is that? If not is ther a way to tell by reading the V.I.N. number? PLEASE HELP ME OUT!

It's a s4. You can tell by the black molding on the front.

Could be a 4 lug, could be a 5, could have the AAS (auto adjusting suspension), could not, Could have manual or power windows.... Could have an AUTO for all we know? Could have a 5spd? Could have an lsd? could be a GXL, GTU, SE, base model. No way to tell from the picture...

I think i see cloth seats. the easiest way to tell s4 from s5 is s4 molding is black and the tail lights are squared, s5 molding is same color as car and tail lights are round.

-FC stands for the whole second generation because the vin of all the 86-91 cars started with FC3s. FD is for the third generation because all 93s-95 vins started with FD. FBs started with FB in vin (after vin standardization).

-There were two series of the 2nd gen FC3s, the series 4 and series 5. Series 4 ran from 86-88 and had things like this car, black paneling, a less smooth body style, 146hp NA, 180hp t2, non aero mirrors (unless added on after 87), a clutch type LSD (if equiped), no fog lights, yellow markers, and very 80s box delorean style tail lights. Series 5 (89-91) cars had pretty much the other stuff you hear about, the stock colored spoiler, 160hp NA/ 200hp t2, same color panels, clear markers, round tail lights, viscous lsd (if equiped), all aero mirrors, etc.

Like others say you can't tell which design it is without looking at all the features or if it had the sticker left behind the front wheels, but its lack of a spoiler helps you think it's the base model and not sport or gxl.

Few other features were changed between these models other than the intake methods improved and a few cheapeners including speed to engine speed based power steering, less responsive lsds, weaker sway links, heavier wheels.

it's an s4 you can know that by looking at the front bumper(the bumper of the s4 is different from the s5), the s4 came from 1986 to 1988, the s5 came from 1989 to 1991, and if you're car is a 4 lug then its must be an se. there are many ways to know what you're car model is, you can look at the vehicle identification number. through 1986 to 1991 there where 5 different models for the 2nd gen rx7. the se,gxl, gtu, gtu's and the TII. but from what i know the only model that has 4 lug is the se no doubt.

to me it looks just like a se (or base) just with a nice lil paint job and some wheels. and acutally the great thing bout base or se is that they are the lighter 7 of the of the models if i'm not mistakin . the only bad thing with them is the 4 lug single pot calipers compaired to the 5 lug calipers that are 4 pot . but thats nothing really as long as you got good pads and rotors,ss lines, etc.
