That would depend on the size of the turbine wheel and if both the turbine housing and manifold were divided or not.

Given the same turbo, the more volume you can flow through the turbine, the faster it will spool.

The whole goal of porting is to get more air into each combustion chamber per stroke. This would increase the volume of exhaust gasses...

So given the same turbo, and assuming the port job was done right; porting an engine will cause a turbo to spool sooner.

Not at a lower RPM though.

Larger ports=more port volume=lower port flow velocity=less ramcharge effect=lower low-rpm power=longer spool up time.


At higher RPM's turbo lag may be reduced, since more power is beig made, and mode exhaust gas, but spool up time in low-rpms is increased.

You're assuming that porting always decreases low-RPM torque. This is not always the case. Properly-executed porting can drastically increase torque below 3500 RPM (the usual point at which a 60-1 w/ 1.0 exh A/R will make full boost).
