FL What The Puck!?!?!?!

Ok so needing new motor mounts I opted to try the Hockey Puck route just for kicks and giggles...and to my suprise, WOW!!! I can honestly say that they are holding up rediculously well and they even look good in the engine bay. I'll post some pics later of how they are looking in case anyone wants to see. I'm sure some people may flame me for this but you know what I could care less... Sorry it's the Joisey in me. HA.

By the by, has anyone else in the FC family tried this and if so how has your experience been?

my friend did this for his volvo. In all honesty i couldn't really tell the difference between the hockey puck and and when he switched to poly urethane. but then again its not my car.

For my seven I opted for the himni racing solid aluminum mounts, and they are awesome.

Puck mounts work amazingly well. Make sure you use the blue training pucks, they seem to hold up better. My buddy has some in his VR6 powered Scirocco and they've lasted 13 years and tens of thousands of miles.

I have pucks for mounts in my car. I honestly love them. It doesn't cause a lot of vibrating for daily driving and their pretty damn solid. I think poly mounts are over-rated and over priced. The only next step for me would be aluminum blocks. Why pay a big name brand 100$ for a set of motor mounts you can make on your own from Wal-mart for 10$.

The hockey puck cracks/breaks and the motor starts vibrating really bad. Same as a normal mount going bad.

Ok. Heres exactly how I set it up. 1/2in thick bolt however long you want, I shaved mine down after I found out how long it needed to be. Ended up around like 4 inches I think. The motor mounts are the standard black rubber hockey pucks. I used 1 and 1/2 on each side stacked up and coated in window weld. Been using them for a little over 5 months now and not even a crack yet.

I think after I changed the mounts, the motor dropped about a inch. I don't know about exact measurements, I'm no rocket scientist, I just know what works.

A hacksaw would work great IMO.

got my hockey pucks.. 4 @ $1.49 each at sport chalet.

Whats a proper sizing for the bolt? i was looking at some Grade 8 bolts.. 3/8, 7/16, or 1/2?? 1/2 seems pretty huge, im not sure that will fit??
