i had just bought a 90 fc gxl and the guy was running it on castrol synthetic and i wanted to change the oil because it is 3000 mile time. will changing the oil to non synthetic hurt the engine? or should i just stick to the same he uses now? what kind of oil is recommended for 7s ??

Read the owner's manual or FAQ. It's all listed in there.

Most people prefer non-synthetic, but there's debate on that.

10W-30 in the cold weather (below 40F or so), 20W-50 the rest of the time.

Quick, someone lock this thread.

Any oil will work well if changed at those <3k intervals. Keep it topped off weekly since it is oil injected and will burn oil. Use common sense when chosing the oil weight to match your weather conditions.

 

thanks all...I read the FAQ's about synt oil just wanted to get more than one point of view.

 

I've got 211K mi on no synthetic. Like said earlier, keep an eye on the oil level and change it <3k.
