What are my chances

My engine gone in my 7 and I can get one from this junkyard on the window it says good motor. I can get it for 100 $ the reason it is so cheap is because the guy doesnt know what he has. The top intake is off of it now. its been there for A few years. What do you think are the chances of me putting it in my car and having it run ok. Its either this or i have a v8 doner car. But I love the rotary.

you can't go wrong for that price, the engines are fairly easy to remove and install with only a few gaskets needed.

is it NA or TII motor? since the intake manifold is off, there any rust in the runners that you can see?

since it's been sitting for awhile, if it was a turbo motor, I'd probably say it won't run. If its an NA, it probably would. NAs are damn tough motors. Probably just drop some ATF and you'll be good.

But even at that price, whether its TII or NA, you can take it apart and resell it for more.

Damn, 25 bucks for S5 Tails? Throw those up for sale and turn at least a $100 profit, most likely more. Nice find man.

I wouldn't know. It's worth a try though. If you have $100 give it a shot. I would if I had $100 sitting around.

Awsome find running or not!! Taillights alone are worth it. I would pull all the spark plugs out, trickle a little atf or mmo into the housings and slowly turn motor over by hand, you will be able to hear compression on each pass if the motor is still good.

hell, i bought a non-running engine for $150. u got urelf a deal. rebuilding isnt as bad as i thought it would be and it's my first rebuild. i'd say stick with it. probably cheaper than converting to the v8

If the motor has been sitting for a long time with the intake off I would pull it apart before crakning it over, no telling whats down in there. Sitting in general is hell on a rotary (turbo or NA).

I just went to look at it again. And the intake is not off it just has no air cleaner or intake tubes but everything else is there. I am going to get it monday.I think I am just going to throw it in and cross my fingers. I also think before I start the engine I am going to run some KW block sealer in it just incase the seals got dryed out. Any one think of any thing else I should do.

thats prob. not the best idea....it seriously takes only 10 mins to check, and it will save you a good day of work if its your first time installing

What this guy said....... Either way you can build that motor up using it as your base. But like you said dude might not know what he has

I hate doing rebuilds I hate it I refuse to rebuild another rotary. Every time I do I end up needing 5 engines to make one good one. Thats why I hope this works out. If it doesnt I am A: selling the car B: junking the car because I am sick of it , or C: Its getting a V8 wich i would rather do the first two before I killed the whole RX-7 concept.

I just bought the engine the oil in it is so clean antifreeze is green and the front of the car was so smashed the date that the car was put there was in late 2003 so I think it might run. This place has 4 FC's 3 S5's and 1 S4 and like 7 FB's I got all of the S5 lights that were good and the red one had a stock wing and near perfect bumpers and a Full black interior. This place only sale's to body shop's and local garages I think thats why all the stuff was there. I just wish they would have had a turbo II hood I want one bad. But I cant complain at all. If anyone needs anything small let me know I will see what I can do for you

I could use the a-pillar trim on a black interior s5, if you have access to one. Uncracked of course, I already have a cracked one.
