Thumbs up hmmmmm!!!!

a 50 shot of nos!!

you would proly have to get a front mount i/c and bigger turbo if you skipped on the nos.

a 50 shot would most likely do it. wont hurt the motor either, if done right. you have a gtx turbo right. go for the nos!!!!

DyNaMiTe KiD,

For 300 rwhp you'd need stage I, II, and III upgrades.

You can go carbed or stay fuel injected on these as well.

For fuel injection:

You need to run an aftermarket ECU to control boost, fuel deliver, air/fuel maps, etc.. Haltech is a popular choice.

I've heard the stock turbo can support 300hp @ 12psi (with fuel upgrades of course), but it's always better to upgrade to a larger turbo so you don't have to run so much boost.

Basically - Gagues (VERY IMPORTANT) including air/fuel, boost, exhaust temp, and coolant; ECU, larger fuel injectors, upgraded fuel rails, upgraded fuel pump, stronger clutch, downpipe & performance catalytic converter

That's the basic list. Most people also upgrade their air intake including intake, cold air box, fresh air headlight scoop intake (check mariahmotorsports.com for those); free-er flowing exhaust, better ignition, front mount or larger top mount intercooler, larger turbo, and possibly a mild street port for better efficency at the newer HP & boost levels.

That should provide the most reliability at those HP/torque levels.

Note the stock fuel system maxes at about 220-240rwhp @ 12PSI. Many people just buy devices to fool the OEM computer into providing additional boost & fuel delivery. At 12PSI on the stock turbo, I've heard above 5500 rpms you tend to run lean - so you'd definitly want to watch those aftermarket gagues.

50 shot

there's a guy on this forum by the name of koko who has a 50 shot on his 87 TII, he gets mad boost creep when he has his nos on. he said he gets 15 psi instantly. you have a gtx turbo/manifold, should work better as the wastegate design is better. kinda dangerous if you dont got the proper mods though. a wet system is what you want to get. research it!!

koko has been banned for a week by a moderator. do a search in the forum on nos and see what everyone else has done.

Upgrade or replace the stock turbo. Sell both AFC and ACV and go full ECU.

Yeah NOS is great for the track so long as you don't run lean & avoid the dreaded pinging.

If you want 300rwHP full time though, eventually you'll want to move away from NOS. Getting the ECU first will even help with your NOS situaition as well since it can controll delivery & mixtures.

well.. im just thinking of what vaugnc just told me.. my main concern is i dont have the money to go full ecu.. i dont think i'll ever will though because i still want the street driveability and reliability , i just like drivin the rx around. sometimes like to have fun n stuff.. and once i hit about 300 rwhp or a lil less, thats all the mods the engines gettin besides pulleys and a ignition box..

so my question is from what my situation is, do i really need to go full ecu??

Hmm...

I'd do a little R&D on a NOS setup on OEM TIIs. I'm sure it's been covered plenty on this forum and other sites.

Anyone have a good link?
