After mine broke apart it looks like it's made outta some kinda hard foam product. like the "Great stuff" product.

umm urthane, like the bumper? maybe?, but i highly doubt they would sell something on a profuction vehicle that wasn't good quality, there were over 20,000 cars now with this wing on, mazda couldn't afford to go cheap here

I've cracked mine, it's definately not metal. It does seem to be of a simlar material to the front bumper though.

I've never seen a metal spoiler (aluminum wings are mostly gaay, so they don't count). They are almost always a foam core with fiberglass laid over it. Some are injection molded and filled with foam afterwards. They're basically the same composition as your bumpers.

I bought my 90 GTU in November 1995. The factory spoiler developed about a 1" crack on the leading edge of the passenger side in about 1997. The crack grew to about 8" before I replaced the wing with another one from a boneyard that was already painted the right color (Blaze Red). This one has been fine so far.

most of them are a hard foam, but the other ones are the tough plastic like most factory wings.

my 1990 300zx had a hard foam spoiler as well. it wasnt uncommon in the late 80's early 90's
