what makes the converter red hot ,idles rough and exceeds to2500rpm on start help hel
Ive posted on same matter but trying to be more detailed to the problem. It will start but revs up to about 2500 rpms ,then it whats to like die it holds a rough idle.I give it gas an it will rev fine.I have a popping noise in the exhaust(oem). The afm is working fine and tested the throttle sensor as well.It blows white smoke and the converter gets red hot sometimes only due to this problem of the car running rough. The car had no problems and it had sat up for a year befor i had gotten the car. This problem happend twice to me but this time it wont go away.Is it possible that im not getting enough gas or a plug wire, spark plug thank you!!!

if you have an aftermarket boost gauge check the vacume that shows if you have a healthy engine or not.
if you have a good vac. reading then you have a healthy engine. thats like 20 range.
yea plugs
possibly fuel filter
(i donno why it would be the fuel filter but mine seemed to idel better when i replaced mine when i first got the car)

if your idle's rough, check your bac valve's resistance per the manual, it should have something like 10-12 ohms (don't quote me on that, just going off of memory). mine was at 13.x and my idle would bounce and even die sometimes when i hit the brakes or turned on the headlights.
if your cats are glowing red, they're prob toast.
good luck,
john
