“If it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it”

Wait until the motor is dead, when you open a rotary you can be in for a bad surprise, hell you may end up wondering how the car even ran. Unless your bonus check can cover “NEW EVERYTHING” rotors, housings, plates… (just incase) don’t open the motor

Mild street port concentrate on “cleaning up the runners” (big is not always better). You want a port that give good flow characteristics will maintaining good gas/air speed.

Personally I wouldn't get into porting until after the engine has died. But depending on where you plan to go with the car, I would imagine a big street port would fulfill your needs.

I would use a large street port. A half bridge if your getting a bigger turbo and upgrading your fuel.

If the compression is good, 90+, then chances are the housings and rotors are in good reusable condition.

Personnaly, I would rather open a motor that has not died yet, knowing I may only have to replace seals and not have find replacement housings and rotors because a seal let go.

The motor gets trashed when a apex seal lets go. If you have the money make sure you have 2 piece apex seal, and a o-ring set on the shopping list. If the engine is not burning oil, chances are you can reuse the oil scrapper seals.

for porting, I hear opening early and closing the same is good.

concentrate on “cleaning up the runners” (big is not always better).
cleaning up as in smoothing out? Also not a good idea.

i pulled apart a perfectly good motor to do my half bridge. since you are not looking for a whole lot of power i would go with a street port. i believe mazdatrix and pineappleracing have streetport templates. i think mazdatrix might have a porting video as well.
