Sure. Put it where you want, as long as you know what you're doing and its still connected properly. Otherwise, your car will have no fuel.

^then you will need to shave off the notch on the high impedance injectors so they will fit in the low impedance harness.

Oh and it's 87.5-88 only. 89-91 are oval plugs in which he would then need to change the harness plugs over to S5.

Low impedance is better anyway since you can do high flow injector swaps easier(720's and up are usually low imp)

Doesn't it depend on the series?
My S5 has a similar looking unit in that position but it's the fuel pump resistor relay, not the injector pack.

Anyway, to remove either unit just undo the 6mm bolts on the bracket flange.

^^Damn, Actually your right. They are located in the same place and have similar shielding.

I can see the part of the relay right there.

So that is the turbo fuel pump resistor relay.

Look up fuel pump rewire and you'll find some walk through's on a mod to put it in the back of the car near the gas tank.

Take a better picture. The 88 turboii had no solenoid resistor package. That package on a 86-87 1/2 is not located where you show. It is located below the air filter and bolted to the frame/fender.

On a turboii, there should be a Fuel Pump Resistor/Relay package where you show the *item* your concerned about. It is needed IF you want fuel for the engine.

You can relocate it if you want.

There is a free Factory Service Manual (FSM) available for a free download in the FAQ thread on this site. It has .....pictures.

Move it wherever you want to. Components can be moved to any place that you can reach the wires and bolt the component on. Also, it is the fuel pump resistor relay. The resistor pack on the low impedence harness is underneath the stock airbox and bolted to the inner fender. And yes, low impedence harness are said to be easier to swap larger injectors into because the larger injectors are usually low impedence.

It is the fuel relay. We were wrong at first.
You can clearly see the stock metal relay in that picture.

Also the metal frame is an L shape not just a rectangle(like the resistor pack)
