sorry for the shitty pic

Resistor pack. For your injectors.

DriftingB26RX7 08-17-07 10:23 AM

can it be moved??

Spectator 08-17-07 10:29 AM

Sure. Put it where you want, as long as you know what you're doing and its still connected properly. Otherwise, your car will have no fuel.

Sooooo..... Arizona Ice Tea for a custom windshield washer fluid bottle? :p:

DriftingB26RX7 08-17-07 10:49 AM

lol nice!

younG_Gunner 08-17-07 12:44 PM

HAHAHA!! Dare I ask...Any fitting issues?

Tenz 08-17-07 12:48 PM

By looks of it, it was a basic straight bolt on HAHAAH

topspeed7 08-17-07 12:49 PM

or u can get high impendace injectors 88+ and eliminate it.

Digi7ech 08-17-07 01:39 PM

^then you will need to shave off the notch on the high impedance injectors so they will fit in the low impedance harness.

Oh and it's 87.5-88 only. 89-91 are oval plugs in which he would then need to change the harness plugs over to S5.

Low impedance is better anyway since you can do high flow injector swaps easier(720's and up are usually low imp)

Az ice tea company makes some of the best fluid containers. lol
I used the green tea one for my oil catch can for a track day. lol

Doesn't it depend on the series?
My S5 has a similar looking unit in that position but it's the fuel pump resistor relay, not the injector pack.

Anyway, to remove either unit just undo the 6mm bolts on the bracket flange.

Digi7ech 08-17-07 07:36 PM

^^Damn, Actually your right. They are located in the same place and have similar shielding.

I can see the part of the relay right there.

So that is the turbo fuel pump resistor relay.

Look up fuel pump rewire and you'll find some walk through's on a mod to put it in the back of the car near the gas tank.

DriftingB26RX7 08-17-07 07:54 PM

I looked in the Haynes guide and it said it was the fuel pump resistor relay...ok so now that we really know what it is can it be moved ?? and where??

This begs the question...what's wrong with where it is now?

Duh! It's already been moved. One more time won't hurt.

willub and company 08-17-07 10:29 PM

So my 88 t2 has low or high impedance injectors? I thought they were high..

DriftingB26RX7 08-18-07 02:23 PM

I want to move it because I would like to clean up the engine bay up alot, and if I were to get fmic its in the way of where I wanna cut. Any possibilities? Has anyone doen this and have pics??

HAILERS 08-18-07 03:32 PM

Take a better picture. The 88 turboii had no solenoid resistor package. That package on a 86-87 1/2 is not located where you show. It is located below the air filter and bolted to the frame/fender.

On a turboii, there should be a Fuel Pump Resistor/Relay package where you show the *item* your concerned about. It is needed IF you want fuel for the engine.

You can relocate it if you want.

There is a free Factory Service Manual (FSM) available for a free download in the FAQ thread on this site. It has .....pictures.

Ice_Wolf 08-18-07 03:32 PM

Move it wherever you want to. Components can be moved to any place that you can reach the wires and bolt the component on. Also, it is the fuel pump resistor relay. The resistor pack on the low impedence harness is underneath the stock airbox and bolted to the inner fender. And yes, low impedence harness are said to be easier to swap larger injectors into because the larger injectors are usually low impedence.

Digi7ech 08-19-07 04:00 AM

It is the fuel relay. We were wrong at first.
You can clearly see the stock metal relay in that picture.

Also the metal frame is an L shape not just a rectangle(like the resistor pack)

DriftingB26RX7 08-19-07 05:58 PM

yeah by the way my car is a 90 t2...so If I make the wires longer it can be moved??
