If I understand you correctly, you would then be normally aspirated, with your intake sucking unfiltered air through the throttle body cover. Of course, your airflow meter wouldn't be measuring your intake air. And, your turbo would be spinning freely, with no resistance (see RB eater's comment).

That's assuming that your car ran at all with the airflow meter inoperative.

well i figured the turbo would self destruct, but why wouldnt the AFM read the intake air.

The turbo destruction would come from spooling too fast? If you are running an aftermarket computer the car will certainly run. Mine did, but only because one of my couplers was crappy and wouldn't hold so it popped off until I replaced it.

If I understand your question correctly, your motor would no longer be drawing air through the airflow meter, but would be directly drawing in ambient air from around the motor. I guess your free spinning turbo would still be pulling air through the AFM, but I don't think it would be calibrated to the motor's requirements.

You mean if you just ran intake hose from the AFM to the TB? It'd run, just be slow as crap, and although I don't see ithe turbo having a problem freewheeling, I do see a problem w/ the intake on it being wide open to any debris, which would haxor your compressor if it sucked it up

Actually I think he means sucking air directly trough the turbo.

maybe i dont understand where the afm is... because between my turbo and intercooler, theres nothing but pipe and a BOV. what i was thinking was popping the air filter on the IC tubimg DIRECTLY after the cooloer core, right in front of the car...

so watever air sucked through the turbo would be expelled, atleast until the turbo spooled past its limit and died. the air would be drawn from under the front bumper. and im running a microtech btw...

im not planning on doing this, because if i wanted to trash my car id leave the turbo on
