what happens at 1500 RPM?

i removed my emissions.. secured all the vacuum lines, and my car STILL wont idle. i pulled the throttle cable tight, and tightened the screws.. if its at like 2k rpm its fine, runs great.. once i get below 1500, it just kinda sputters down till it dies. what happens around 1500 rpm that would do this? im sick of trying to diagnose this idle.

if the fuel pump resistor relay never dropped to 9v would it cause my car to die being 12v at that low rpm. also, can someone use a voltage tester and test the ECU wires on the fuel pump resistor relay.. see if they give 12v within a certain rpm range or is it when the tps shows your foot off the gas??? can your foot be on the gas and the fuel pump still drop to 9v?

not in the hoses.. maybe at a gasket, im pretty sure not though. i think it has to do with my resistor relay.

Doubt it... But your welcome to run a 12v line to your pump and bypass the resistor relay.

will 12v at that rpm put too much fuel in and kill the motor?

try adjusting the 10mm bolt positioned vertically on top of the TB towards the front of the car. Turn it down...let me know if that fixes it.

9v, 11v, 13v, 8v, 14v it does not matter. I run a converted non turbo to turbo and it reads 13 something volts at idle and it runs just fine. I have a normal turbo car and it has approx 9.7 volts at idle ......and both cars idle amazingly smooth at 750 rpm, in fact so smooth they set the standard for idling. People come from far and wide to observe the best running RX7's in the whole wide world. I mean you can balance a quarter on top of the intercooler and then balance another on top of that one with ease.

did you pull the manifolds off? if so did you scrape off old gasket, use new gaskets and throw in some RTV for good measure?

this may have been a question thats been covered many times but, what is the cheapest most effective way to find vacuum leaks.. mechanic stethiscope, starter fluid, car cleaner, vacuum pump, something else?

No way. I've got some serious windsurfing to do. It's tooooo hard to fix something like that online. It could be the grommets at the bottom of the fuel injectors cocked up and leaking, it could be the timing waaaay off, it could be one of the large hose clamps from the bac to the, what? intake hose, it could be the brake booster feed line half off or all the way off it could be a honked up afm it could be............could be......could be.......but does not seem to be a fuel pressure issue.

Approx 1100 to 1200 rpm the timing advances.

Turn on the engine and let it idle. Grab a propane torch, open the gas. (DON'T LIGHT IT ) Slowly run the torch around all of the mating surfaces and vacuum hoses. If the idle rises or suddenly smoothes out - chances are you have a leak in that spot. You may also want to have a piece of cardboard handy to block the torch from the wind being blown from the fan.

**This is dangerous - so be careful!**

If you set your car ablaze - it's not my fault!
