What is going on here? Radio install on a S5
This is driving me nuts, the FAQ says the front left door speaker is LTGREEN/RED and LTGREEN/BLK and those wires don't exist, they do exist in the door, but not behind the radio. As well as the LTGREEN and LTGREEN/YLW for the passenger door speaker they don't exist on the harness behind the radio.
infact, the ONLY 2 LTGREEN wires that exists there are for the front speaker under the dash for the left side and some yellow ones for the passenger dash speaker. and the faq does not even list those speakers wire color, just the doors and the rears.
I tried ohm'ing random wires out for the front speakers and I get nothing, I pulled the harness out and peeled off the insulation and tracked them back as far as I could go and I see no evidece of door wires, there is a tonne of blue wires, but no ltgreen's (except for the front dash speaker.. are S5's different? or something.

I FOUND THE S5 Wiring diagram.
S5
_____
Constant 12V+ Blue/Red
Switched 12V+ Blue/White
Ground n/a
Illumination Red/Black
Dimmer n/a
Antenna Left Rear
Front Speakers 4" Dash
Left Front (+) Blue
Left Front (-) Blue/White
Right Front (+) Blue/Red
Right Front (-) Blue/Yellow
Rear Speakers 6 1/2" Door
Left Rear (+) Blue/White
Left Rear (-) Blue/Green
Right Rear (+) Blue/Red
Right Rear (-) Blue/Green
I don't think THIS is in the FAQ I found it in a random post.. it's S4 wiring that's in there, maybe it should be updated with this info, I'm going to go out and try again and see if this matches up.
Notice how all of the speakers are off blue wires, yah it's not like that on S4's.

well this diagram makes no sense either. also why is there only 4 speakers listed when the car has 6? do I splice the left and right dash speakers in with the door speakers? I'm about to run all new wire.. but I really don't want to.

best advice i could give you is take a 9v battery or something and try to get the speakers to click, use that to decifer which speaker is which.
hell, go to radioshack and use a head phone jack replacement and a ipod, wires are stripped already right? just touch the wire to the jack and ground out the other... use masking tape and a sharpie to mark the wire.

Radio
I have replaced two radios in s4's.From what I can remember there are a cluster of wires with a few harnesses. There is always the possibility that one cluster is missing.Cut by previous owner.I know it is difficult in a dash, but look inside dash for a taped up mess of wires. If you can find one in a junkyard and see whats in that one.I took all harnesses out of a donor car and soldiered them on.I spent the extra money and bought a wire harness at a car radio place. And hooked into the stock(soldiered) wires harness. Then I got the harness to hook the radio up to the aftermarket harness. It all worked fine.
The one thing some people don't realize is that some(maybe all)7's have a built in amp.If there is no power to this amp the speakers will not work unless you bypass it.U can usually hook up the turn on lead to the switched power or,the power ant. wire.Depending how your head unit works.
I hoped this helped.I am going off of memory about the cluster of separate harnesses though.Mine was pretty hacked up.By looking at the donor it cleared up a lot of issues.I would still suspect the wires might be cut.Good Luck and let us know if you need more help.

You are looking at the amp output side. The amp input wires are in the dash. These wires could be different in color.Even though they pass through an amp.Your ohms test may not pass through the amp unless it is powered up.If all else fails rewire the whole stereo with better grade wires and enjoy clean power.

Do you have service manual? There are 4 different types of radios in those, and on some the wires from the speakers go to the door woofer amp, thus the color of the wire changes from the amp to the radio. Looking at the wiring diagram the amp is spliced to the front speakers, I assume the ones in the dash. The door speakers are not full range, just woofers, so they are part of the dash speakers, if that makes any sens.

You need the S5 Body Electrical chapter.
http://www.rotaryheads.com/PDF/2nd_gen/
Scroll down, 89-91, chapter 15 body electrical.
Just checked the link for you. Should work. You'll see the **** load of amps. May want to rewire with your own wire to bypass all of it.
