What factors effect the output rate of the OMP? (S5, 13BT, TII)
Just RPM?
Are there any other factors which effect the output of an S5 OMP?
Would it be feasible to build a box that could pick up the signal from the trailing coil, and have a set voltage sent to the OMP?
Without knowing the range of voltage sent to the OMP, i'll use 0-5 as an example...
0 rpm -> 0v OMP
4000 rpm -> 2.5v OMP
8000 rpm -> 5.0v OMP
Of course there would most likely be a sweep instead of stepping...
Questions for me:
1. What's the operating range of the OMP?
2. Is this even possible from an electrical design standpoint?
3. Would this be possible with simple circuitry?
Reason I am asking, I'm going to be using a EMS on my stock s5 13BT (for future upgrades...) and amongst the many things that will be tossed, the factory ECU will be one of them. Since I think I can really leave the ECU in just to control the OMP (or can I?), and I don't want to go through the steps of removing the front cover and replacing it with a cover from a S4 (although, it very well may come to pass).
Thanks,
Joe

Keep Right Except to Pass
Wouldn't it be easier to just premix? I'm sure you could do what you're talking about though. Just have it proportional to RPMs. Also I don't see how you could use the stock ECU for just the OMP.
Due to my perceived reliability of the S5 OMP, if I was intent on keeping the oil metering system, I would retrofit a mechanical one.
Cheers
