What extras do I need for a new motor (jspec)??

I plan on dropping an s5 jspec in my 87 T2, what extra things am I gonna have to look for other than just the motor. like other things that I will need to buy, and i dont mean relating to the conversion, just typical engine pull/drop things. I'm just trying to calculate my total costs. Thanks.

you are going to need the series 5 ecu and wire harness, unless you plan to tear both engines down to the block to swich everything on them (manifolds, injectors, AFM, etc)

new fuel line, vac line, lots of clamps, I'd replace the rad and heater hoses. you will need to get ahold of an engine host, but the rest can be done with basic tools.

Thanks Scott, but i have a few more questions

1. as far as the intakes go, I was told that changing them is optional

2. I am planning on running a premix and ditching the OMP, couldn't I just leave the s5 front cover on minus the OMP?

3. Is there anything else other than the front cover that requires the s5 ecu? Is that why you mentioned the AFM?

4. how about the water pump housing? I was told that needs to be changed.

5. injectors- fuel or oil?

6. Why do i need a new radiator?

Thanks Alot!!!

I was talking about rad hoses ,

if you have an 87 ecu and wire harness, you need to keep everything that is pluged into it the same on the new engine, so AFM, tps, fuel injectors and all sensors. so basicly you have to swap everything over execpt for the 89-91 turbo and exhaust manifold which you want to keep on. you can just pull the OMP off and block it off. no problems there.

no, but its just his preference

As far as the hoses go... I think if you get em from the dealership its like $30 for just a heater hose.
I think i'll be looking elsewhere for mine when i replace them

Keep us posted on all that you do b/c i think that is the route I am going to take w/ my TII also.

Try to rig up a remote contro so you canl pop up the back window. Then fit some hellfire rockets in the cargo area that can be launched by pressing buttons on the stereo. Use this to avoid being ticketed for speeding. This is a great "extra".

Smoke screen, oil slick, ejector seat and a virgin mary dashboard icon of some kind. This package works great with any t2 gunship.
