I installed my hybrid last weekend (panspeed, 57mm wheel). Should have used new gaskets, didn't quite have the money, current ones are 35k old. Started car up and it sounds like it has an exhaust leak. Sounds like a cammed V8, really deep idle with clearly audible "lope lope lope". So I re-tighten everything in the exhaust and take it for a spin real quick. Leak drastically changes sound under boost, becomes a very tinny sound, like BBs stuck in th exhuast. Seems to me that its too low frequency to be the compressor or exhaust wheel hitting a housing (turbo had no shaft play when I installed it). I was just wondering if anyone had a sound clip with a leaking manifold turbo gasket? I'd like to make a positive ID before I start pulling **** apart again to fix it. Any other thoughts would be appreciated too. Could it be my WG?

 

Sounds like an exaust leak.

You can try and use a pair of stethoscopes to hunt around for where the leak is coming from.
