What do YOU want made for YOUR FC???

Okay, I'm bored.
I haven't seen a similar thread recently, so I figured I'll start one up.

If you want parts made for your FC, what would you want???

If you can, include what you're willing to pay for it?
Yes, I realize if you can get it free it would be nice but be serious!

Ok, I admit...it's market research for me.

The triple gauge cluster for the idiot light area...perhaps even the run racing/border type that goes above the headlight or wiper switch. Would consider anything in the $25-75 range here.

A rear diffuser sort of like what the FD has available (see www.rotaryextreme.com under FD3S and RE DIFFUSER). Though not necessarily a performance enhancing part for a street car, it would look bad as hell and intimidating for sure. Would consider anything in the $200-600 range here)

Perhaps an N1 dual knockoff utilizing some ebay canister mufflers or something...3" into 2-2.5". Seems the copycat exhaust makers have gotten the single setup cost down below $200 now, but the cost of a decent looking dual system still looms near $500. Looking for $200-350 here. Seeing as how you can get 2 nice looking mufflers on ebay for $75 or less, I don't see any reason this isnt possible.

A good source for the stock s5 t2 front lip and side skirts...still affordable. Say $100-200 for the front lip, and $100/side for the skirts set. The skirts should be made one piece for ease of mounting and stability.

Finally, I'd like to see a pre-made oil filter relocation kit for the FC (as well as GSLSE and FD) including lines and hardware, a bolt on affair. Move the oil filter down so it is accessible from under the car, just like the oil drainplug. I hate to build a clean engine then get the ****** all dirty with oil running everywhere from mazda's stupid oil filter location. Plus, this could be integrated with a setup like the racing beat, mazdatrix, and fc3s.org oil filter pedestal adaptors which allow you to run aftermarket sending units. Something in the $50-150 range would be acceptable.

I'll probably think of more...

There's not a whole lot that I can think of that isn't already being made. Maybe some drift parts. That seems to be the big thing right now. Like a set of steering angle spacers. GP Sports makes a set that adds 6 degrees and comes with tie rod ends for about $200. They're really easy to make. I might make a set myself.

Bolt-on AWD kit. (hey, you asked, and this is somethin we allll would want!)

On a more serious note:
Cast S5 filler neck $50-75
Packaged electronic s5 aux port activation (instead of peicing everything together with caddy parts) No clue on price
S5 a-pillar gauge mount (i sure as hell can't find one that I don't have to take the heat gun to) $40

Pretty much everything else that has been said as well, I'll be thinking of the other nuances

A damn cupholder that can hold a 20oz bee--mountain dew without getting in the way of my arm on the shifter!

I found that reclining the passanger seat so there's just enough of a gap to jam it between the seat/storage bins works pretty well at holding any drinks. Although, this would be a nice thing, if a decent place to put it can be found. I've thought about modifying my console and possibly putting a single cupholder in there, but I haven't had much time to experiment. I'd be willing to pay about $20-30 for a good damn cup holder!

the problem is where the cupholder could go without being in anything's way?

But that's the fire extinguisher's spot!

It would be nice to see some kind of prepackaged aux port system, I agree. I'd be in it more for S4's.

A cheap cold air box would be nice, just pre-cut aluminum sheets and a wee bit of insulation, or even just a couple aluminum squares with the pattern already traced on them. I can do it myself, but I don't feel like it. ~$50, rough guess depending on the price of aluminum sheets.

All you need is the 12VDC to 120VAC converter - hey, don't they make 12VDC flourescent fixtures?

I just found out that we might have a lead on plastic injection molding, and we're looking into preliminary pricing...

I'm looking into preliminary designs for such a thing, but the hard part is tying to configure the unit to fit ALL exhaust systems.

Exhaust stuff is not something I want to get into.
Cheap knock-offs are rampant, and shipping kills.

Body kit pieces is something I don't want to get into either.  Most bulky pieces is going to kill for shipping costs, and I'm not a big body kit fan.

I know Trust/GReddy makes a "kit", but I never really looked into pricing.  Once you go FMIC, the oil filter gets uncovered, and it's not that bad to access it.  If you have a full loaded FC with PS, AC, and stock battery location, it makes it hard to relocate the oil filter to somewhere convenient on top.  I'll be looking into it though, as I want to move up to some of the larger oil filters easily available...

RETed,

I agree a gauge cluster for the 2 Gen idiot light area is a sound idea.

I hate cup holders, but there's a wasted space on the hump between the center console storage and the rear storage areas. Mazda should have tied the center console all the way back to the rear storage and made it a functional, level space instead of leaving it as the rounded form coverd by carpet.

I have speaker pods built into my doors. There's potential there for a kit.

Is there a way to make the foot controls adjustable? I don't mean just clamp on aftermarket pieces. For instance, I'm 6'3" and I hate the position of the foot rest pad on the far left. I am going to reposition that. But it makes me think there must be some way to improve the set up of the control pedals, too.

How about putting together a battery relocation kit?

How about a RETed approved ignition upgrade kit?

How about a RETed approved TB mod kit (or a warning against it)?

We're doing preliminary testing on some drift components, and if they work well we'll be more than happy to sell them to everyone else.  It's going to be a bolt-on steering tie rod relocation point kit that'll get more steering angle that those bump steer kits.  We're getting at least 45-degrees of steering angle versus about 40-degrees from those bump steer kits.  Stock is a little over 30-degrees I think.

The problem with these things is that with stock wheels and tires, it hits the insides at extreme lock-to-lock steering.  I can see people damaging their tires and crashing if they don't compensate for the larger angle.

--lightweight (fiberglass?) frontend (everything exterior in front of firewall) that still can maintain all lights: $$damn.
--or just lightweight fenders: $$3million/ea.
--overflow tank relocator (ya know, nice. mine would be ghetto): $$cheap.
--that piece (surround) that goes around the middle a/c vents and stereo (etc) made to hold gauges and an optional piece to replace middle a/c vents (maybe say "mazda" or "RX-7"..or be blank, whatever): $$probably somethin else i cant afford.
--lightweight dash: $$cheaper than a new mazda dash
--cheaper wheel spacers, but great quality: $$cheaper than corksport.
--carbon fiber intake manifolds: $$satan's toenails

I think we're going to go ahead with production, but I cannot guarantee pricing that low.

Is this under the stock mouse belts?  Or is this with the mouse belts disabled?

I'm actually working on a cupholder design, but it might not be what everyone wants.  I'm making it strong enough to hold at LEAST a 7-11 Super Big Gulp sized drink.

I've looked into making a serious cold air box, but it's next to impossible without doing some serious metal cutting into the chassis?

I've never seen a real nice design yet, but if anyone has one, I'm open to ideas!

I like that idea, but we know FC owners are cheap and it wouldn't be worth it for 2 or 3 people.
