Re: What do you think of your car?

1. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this car. I love walking out of my house and seeing those big rear tires stickin out, with the dual exaust, beautiful sports car, knowing that I won't see one on the way to work

2. That's a hard one. I just love the shape. The nose is perfect (s5), I just love the lines, the big front fenders, the lines of the hatch, everything about it. I love the shifter, I love everything about it.

3. Probably how confusing the vaccum lines and **** are.. haha. I'm used to older V8s, so I dont have all that **** to mess with.

4. Speaking for myself, pretty decent. When I bought the car, it was in nice condition as it is. All I needed to do to bring it to 100 percent operating specs was replace the TPS (40 bucks), crank angle sensor (20 bucks from a junk yard), and a coolant sensor. My car runs BEAUTIFULLY now. Other than that, my personally, I have not had a problem with it.

5. This varies. Performance parts... yeah... they can be expensive. As for OEM parts... um... yeah, they're expensive too. The key is to look on this forum for parts, e-bay, parts trader websites, etc etc. Just be a smart shopper, and its not sooo bad.

6. Know what you're getting into. I did 3 months of research on these cars before I bought one. I wanted to know as much as I could possibly learn, without actually owning one yet, to see if I was getting in over my head. Thankfully... I didn't! If your going to buy a project car, look into the work involved, and money, and if its going to be worth it. There are people on this forum that are driving their cars that they got for a coulpe hundred bucks, and driving around with no problems. Then you have people on this board that have put 10, 15, 20K into their cars, and it hardly ever runs... or is not running, or IS running and is FAST AS HELL.

If this is your first rx, I would recommend getting a N/A to start off. Alot less problems, easier to learn on, etc etc.

Drove One!

On my way home from work today I was driving
along and saw a white GTU on the corner.

I went to the house and knocked and a man came
out looking a little puzzled.

"I know this is going to sound a little weird....
but can I look at your car?"

"Its not mine." pause.... "But I know who owns
it and its for sale." "Wanna take a look?"

"Sure."

This car is extremely clean and they said the
motor was just rebuilt. Awesome!

Then I asked if I could take it around the block.
It was weird at first engaging the clutch at such
a high RPM. The thing was a blast, it would blow
my Fiero in the weeds!
Overall I had a lot of fun and may get this car.

I went ahead and added my vote to my poll.
(option 1 of course)

1. & 2. I drive an '87 TII and I absolutely love how it handles, boosts, shifts, even when I'm riding in it. My favorite part is driving by really reflective buildings and looking at myself going: "God this is a nice car"

3. The horn doesn't work, so I'll need to re-solder a joint. The tail lights aren't nearly as cool as a 5th Series rx7's. BUT all of this can be fixed.

4. I don't mind keeping my car maintained, it's half the fun. The most I've spent on it was for new tires.

5. Parts prices are slightly more expensive if you buy from shops or online. EBay and the forums here can get you some decent prices.

6. Rotary engines accelerate much more smoothly than piston engines, the difference is astounding.

7. My friend owned a Fiero, and it was a cute little car. But driving my car now it is like we took the Fiero made it look better, and then stepped it up a level or two in every possible way. Speed, acceleration, handling (and Fiero handling is pretty damn good).

Thanks.
1. I love it.
2. I love just about every thing about them.
3. I don't dislike much but the one thing I probably don't like is the fact they didn't come with a 20B But thats not really a problem for me when I can get upwards of 350whp from 1.3 liters.
4. Maintenance is comperable to any other 80's car that has been neglected. Things break but you fix them and your done. Unless you find yourself a lemon.
5. Parts pricing is a little bit higher than some cars but what do you expect for a rare sports car? The only things it costs a nut to buy is maybe a rebuild?
6. I hope you know they have a rotary engine. Other than that just learn about this type of engine and toss out most of the "rules of thumb" for piston engines.

Fiero lol I'd say this is a large step up from that little thing. Although you might want to save your cooling fan for later use in your FC.

1. Looks good, turns alot of heads. Well balanced.
2. The simplicity of it. I can get to most anything in the engine bay.
3. Doesnt like to start when cold. Doesnt like to idle.
4. Not too bad if it has alot of replaced parts. Non-turbo cars can be driven for months with no worries.
5. Parts arent cheap. A model specific engine.
6. Fun to drive hard.
