Thumbs up What do you guys want?

After the recent popularity of My engine removal instructions, I was asked for a version with pics, and then a video.

Well, In the fall, I will have plenty of money to spend on a camera and a digital video camera. (To go with a AIW 8500, and DVD burner: Good quality stuff!)

I will be doing write-ups for anyone who wants them.

I need to know what you guys want, and how you want it.
IE: I would like a Engine rebuild instructions via VHS

Here are your choices:
(free)
-Internet Write-Up with Pictures
-Online movies (poorer quality and EXTREMELY long time to download)
(cost of materials plus shipping, and you keep a copy)
-DVD video
-VHS video
-CD-R with digital Video, pictures, and manual write-up

So, what exactly do you want? TII or NA?

Sean Cathcart

PS: Does anyone remember if the TII tranny bellhousing is cast into the transmission or if it unbolts? I forget

I find it hard to believe that no one wants video or write-up instructions on how to do things to their cars?

If you're worried about cost, it would be cost of the materials, + shipping. We're talking $5 or so bucks here for complete rebuild instrcutions!
Maybe I got confused from what I heard in the other thread that there was interest in this kinda thing.

Direct port definitely (installing it this weekend on my TII, doing a video would be easy when I have a digicam). 5th and 6th port removal would be a must-have, and an Efan with CORRECT wiring would be a must.

How about I offer VHS w/ video and CD-R w/ video, write-up and pics?
Sound good?
Expect $5 or so.

Haltech Tuning will definitely be on there.
Tranny rebuild I hadn't thought about. I will be installing a T56 into my TII, and I could show a TII tranny swap for sure.
If someone wanted their tranny rebuilt for free and just supply parts, I would do that too. (Tranny rebuilds are none-too complicated).
Or, I could rebuild my TII tranny and resell it for around $300.

Hmmm...

Cool idea, none the less. I'll definitely look into it.

Yeah, Thats a great idea. Unfortunately, I doubt I will be putting a s/c on my NA seeing as I am aiming for a 450 RWHP TII and wanted the NA to be strictly a slightly modded daily driver.

However, if there was someone who wanted a kit installed, I could do all the work for free and do that as a video, including custom mount sizes and stuff.

Or, I could produce a s/c kit for around $3000 (That's almost no profit) with a video installation guide if anyone wanted.

How about a tune-up video, for things like TPS, vacuum leaks, that kinda ****?

Sean Cathcart

Great ideas, keep em coming!

Are we interested in a s/c kit? I can make one.
What other parts are we interested in? I'd personally like to see an aluminum intake pipe set-up for both na's and TII's.
If there is interest, I will see what I can do with my resources.
Now is your chance, guys!

I won't be doing c/f for others and take away from Mazdaspeed.
However, I have considered getting into some things that wouldn't be touched, such as doors and fenders.
Input?

Why would I bother charging more? There' already the atkins video, and I would be doing the work anyway. Its just as easy to make a video, and really, I wouldn't be in it for the money.
I'm sure those who really wanted to could pay me for it, but in all reality, a video like this would be for those who don't have $25 to spend when they can just ask on here. If they had money to blow, they wouldn;t be doing the work themselves.
Besides, that extra $20 is an extra tank of gas that'll help when blowing away the competition.

In all honesty, with the length of video this will be coming to, it's more than likely gonna be a couple, or two VHS videos.
Price, including shipping, will be somewhere around $7-8 as I figure, with the amount of footage that will be on there.

For me, the best part I see about the CD's is that the vdeo's will be separable. If you just wanna see the TB mod, you can open just that file.

DEFINITELY no on the NA to TII engine swap.
Maybe I'll include a monologue as to why not.

also...

clutch replace
brake rotor/pad/ss line replace
bushings replacement
shock/spring replacement
ss oil line replacement
oil pan gasket replacement

no need to make a separate video for each topic. you can combine lots of these topics when you are doing a video of engine removal/reinstall.

in my opinion, the topics useful for most people are the maintainance/repair stuff. i am not too sure how many would install a sc or rebuild a tranny; cool topics, but again, most won't deal with it..

my 2 cents...and thanks for doing this. i will definitely learn something..

I'd like to get information on if you'd like someone to assist you while you attempt to do all these mods. I'm interested in learning how to do them without risking damage to my car. :-D
