What to do to get car running

Hello everyone. It seems like I will be picking up a 86 base model rx7 this weekend. Now the cars been sitting for over 2 years. I wanted to know of any precautions I should take to start the car.(besides the obvious like changin fluids and stuff) The car did run when it was parked. All suggestions are appreciated.

gas for sure.

Rx's that sit for years are a bitch to start anyway. stale gas can make it that much more difficult.

And you may want to look at the ATF proceedure for initial start up. You can find that using the search function for this forum.

Without knowing what's wrong initially, get ready for some work.

You'll probably want to start with the basics.

Fuel

spark

Compression

then go from there.

A little oil through the spark plug hole into the housing will help with compression and lubrication.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I got the car yesterday. I worked on it earlier today. Within a half hour the car was running fine. Even with the 2+ year old gas in it. Thanks again everyone.

umm... 2 years old gas.... I would sugest you take down the gas tank, clean it out,, than run some cleaner through the gas lines, and make sure to change the OIL A.S.A.P.

Make sure to check the afterburner actuators.. They have the tendency to freeze up if they have been sitting for a while.
