What could cause...
some sort of "oil" to drip on my pants while driving my 7. I know it has to be oil-based because it sure as hell doesn't come out. It is always on the same leg and I couldn't find somewhere that should have any fluid above my legs. Any ideas? It ruined like 3 pairs of pants already with just one drop

best way to check is to put a piece of news paper on the floor board overnight and check in the morn-- take a ruler and a flashlight look where the spot is then put the ruler in the spot vertical and it will point to the area where it is coming from use the light to see where it is dripping from. then go to iluvmyrx7 and go to service manual for you car you can check out the pics and parts that contain fluids that could be leaking..PEACE ex.

There are only two possible sources for "oil" inside your car. The first is leakage from the brake master cylinder, and the second would be leakage from the clutch master cylinder. Either of these can leak inside if the seals are going bad. My money would be on the clutch master cylinder. I have seen more of these leak than brake cylinders.
There is no other source of oil inside the car. The oil pressure gauge (assuming you are running stock gauges) is electrical, as is the temp gauge. Therefore no fluids are associated with them inside the passenger compartment. If you are runnning a mechanical oil pressure gauge it might be leaking but motor oil usually washes out from clothing easily.
Simply look up into the area under the dash and near the firewall where the pedals hang. Take a flashlight and examine the actuating rods for the clutch and brake master cylinders. You will find one of them leaking. The other obvious check is to look out in the engine compartment and see which is losing fluid as indicated by a drop in the level of the reservoir.

Man for real, that **** sucks. I hate to wear pants and drive my 7. It leaves a drop a few inches above my ankle in the front. It only happens every once in a while so its hard to track down and I'm pretty sure it doesn't do it when sitting because I had the car sitting for a few months and it didn't leave anything on my new floor mats at all.

Another strong vote for the clutch master cylinder. It will leak and run down the firewall, under the carpets and just give you fits trying to find out why the fluid is disappearing out ot the reservior and you cannot find drips on the ground. Piece of cake to remove and replace if your a midget with small hands.

I'll give a vote for speedo cable - if it's hitting right leg shin that's got my money on it. Mine apparently lost a seal or something and started bypassing gear oil up the cable to the back of my gauge cluster. It never dripped on my leg but it stained my carpet up good.

I also vote for the speedometer cable. Transmission fluid seeps in past the seal, and the pressure pushes it up the void between the metal cable and its sheathing. The fluid comes out at the speedometer connection, and flows down the outside of the cable to the lowest point, whereupon it spies your pants and drops down onto them.

I have also seen fluid run up the speedometer cable.
Actually, I've also seen speedometer cables unscrew themselves from the transmission while driving and dump their contents onto the highway.
So, I recommend getting under the car if you haven't been there recently and unscrewing the speedometer cable from the transmission. You can quickly see if it's full of transmission fluid and make sure it's tight when you put it back on.

Mine just turned 16 and I'm afraid she's pregnant.
