what can be removed from the motor (rebuild Q)

im about to take out the motor and im wondering what can permantly be removed. im planning on losing the ac for one..but keeping power steering. i heard something about a sub zero start bottle or something that can be completly removed for it serves no purpose. what else is there...i want a simple/clean/neat engine bay when this rebuild is done.. thanks

Any and all emissions related equipment can be removed.

BAC, EGR, OMP and everything related(Must pre-mix), solenoid rack/emissions crap, etc.

Just check the FSM and check out the emissions section... whatever you see you can remove, essentially...

Check out www.rotaryressurection.com for a write up, and www.2751engineering.com sells block off plates.

You might want to mention that when you remove the OMP on an S5 (which is series the gentleman asking the question owns) the motor will not run properly. The ECU goes into "limp mode". The omp must still be hooked up even if you block it off and run premix. I would leave the OMP alone unless you plan on buying an aftermarket ECU.

Glad you pointed that out. I didn't realize he was doing this work on an S5.

remember if you are in a city or state that does emissions testing that you will not want to remove emissions

Pre-mixing is annoying (downright ghetto if you think about it).

Modify it for 2-stroke or at the very least just let it do it's job as-is.

The BAC valve and OMP are not emissions equipment.
