Bigger exhaust will open up more horses right off the bat.

I think the only thing better than the duals would be NOS without getting into forced induction.

the duals are like 2.75in. i think. They are probably not 3 inch. Wait Porting would also yeild a lot of power. I think some companies say like 25-50 HP from porting.

I thought that N20 was considered forced induction.

There's nothing forced about N20; so it ain't forced induction Let's not start that again...

Well I don't know the technical definition of forced induction but by that I meant a Turbo or a super charger.

True duals is the best mod you can do. Especially if you through $40 K&N filter on at the same time. Other than that, porting and polishing your intake manifolds would be something to consider.

you wouldn't need to go any bigger than 2" with duals and 2½" with a single exhaust on an N/A. Anything else is a waste of money (piping is more expensive) and has no benefit.

Replace the cats with a downpipe/straight pipe. Huge difference. It's like night and day.

Yes nitrous is forced induction. And yes thats the biggest bang for the buck on a NA engine.

You can either buy the headers from RB or MT and have it custom made or If you have some extra cash laying around(~1350) you can get the pre-made "bolt-on" setup from mazdatrix.com I got that and it is great. Running straight pipes is not a good idea unless you have a ported engine. If your car is stock you will loose power by having a straight exhaust.

If your car is stock you'll LOSE POWER?? Where did you pull that little tidbit of info out of? You'd gain just from the simple fact you have no more catalytic converters.

The only downside to true-dual is you'll lose low-end; ported engines also don't like true-duals.

Well the duals are meant for stock engines but Flyby116 has them and he has a big street port on his car. But the fact it that a single exhaust will yiel the most "peak" HP numbers. That does not really mater since the duals provide a wide band of power all the way to the redline. I would still recommend them to you but some will not.

I have a lot of low end man have you ever driven a car with them? Ported engines like the duals just fine but with a ported engine a single exhause will give you more peak power. What I mean by looding power with just race or straight pipes is that you will lack the sufficient back pressur to actuate the auxilary ports on the car and if you wire them open you will loose low end tourqe.

If you gutt your cats that will yield some power but not a lot. If you do not want to spend a lot of money and keep the cat-back just buy the RB collected header and the single presilencer with the H thing that is used to open the auxilary ports. My friend has that but we have yet to put it on but it should be good for some nice HP numbers.

Maybe I should have said "ported engines prefer single" over "they don't like duals"...

Even still, you DO lose low-end compared to a single free-flowing exhaust.

ALL I can speak for is the duals and I can tell you that they give you very nice tourqe down low at least on my car. The first day I had them I was still driving like I used to and launched at a high RPM and I kinda got sideways on a dry road which I had never done before. I have had close calls on wet roads too it is scary when your car is at a 45 degree angle to the road.
