you wouldn't need to go any bigger than 2" with duals and 2½" with a single exhaust on an N/A. Anything else is a waste of money (piping is more expensive) and has no benefit.

You can either buy the headers from RB or MT and have it custom made or If you have some extra cash laying around(~1350) you can get the pre-made "bolt-on" setup from mazdatrix.com I got that and it is great. Running straight pipes is not a good idea unless you have a ported engine. If your car is stock you will loose power by having a straight exhaust.
If your car is stock you'll LOSE POWER?? Where did you pull that little tidbit of info out of? You'd gain just from the simple fact you have no more catalytic converters.
The only downside to true-dual is you'll lose low-end; ported engines also don't like true-duals.

ok well i have my power stearing taken off and ac taken off a bonez intake and cat back exhaust so if i just gutted my cats would that yeald me any power or a loss of power??

I have a lot of low end man have you ever driven a car with them? Ported engines like the duals just fine but with a ported engine a single exhause will give you more peak power. What I mean by looding power with just race or straight pipes is that you will lack the sufficient back pressur to actuate the auxilary ports on the car and if you wire them open you will loose low end tourqe.

Maybe I should have said "ported engines prefer single" over "they don't like duals"...
Even still, you DO lose low-end compared to a single free-flowing exhaust.

ALL I can speak for is the duals and I can tell you that they give you very nice tourqe down low at least on my car. The first day I had them I was still driving like I used to and launched at a high RPM and I kinda got sideways on a dry road which I had never done before. I have had close calls on wet roads too it is scary when your car is at a 45 degree angle to the road.
