well if its an na if you take it off your 6ports wont open, i am putting on a contraption from coldfires right up in the arcives since i dont have cats any more. i am going to take the acv off and the air muffler. run a hose from the back of the air pump and tap into the line like the write up says.
if its a tII i dont know what it dose for them

Just pull it. No real downside. The ports are operated by exhaust back pressure, just make sure the split air pipe is OK and hooked up at both the cat end as well as the engine. Also that the check valve in the air pipe going from ACV to the cat is still functional. If you want to check your port actuators put some low pressure air to the line that connects to split air pipe. You can see them operate. If they're stuck just spray some carb cleaner on them and work them loose by hand.
