Lightbulb What aftermarket sound system are you running?

Meh..hard to get guys to look in the Fab section so I thought I would give it a go here.

I would "really" love to upgrade my In dash system and would like suggestions or pics on what you Gents are running in your FC.
Preferably Double Din In dash units.Nav is a plus but not necessary.
I'm due for a front speaker upgrade too,so I was thinking Focals..(yay!)..But I would take suggestions on that too.

Any Links, prices etc can be posted.

Thanks guys.

JL Audio or bust!

If you want good sound avoid all those "2-way, 3-way, 4-way" BS speakers and buy a nice set of components with crossovers and tweeters.

Get combo 4 1/2" speakers with for the dash with crossovers, mid range speakers for the doors, some with a lower frequency response for the rears, and some tweeters for up on the a-pillars.

My idea is still use the door speaker location with say 6.5" bass/mid's and have the Stock under dash locations with a separate tweeter.
The Deck I have been looking at is the "blingie" Pioneer AVIC-800NEX..real spiffy do-jigger.
But it is a little high price.

I'm hung on on whether I want Navigation. It is nice to have but doesn't do anything for sound quality.
Besides,I have a Feeling that the Deck would say" you are exceeding the speed limit" ALOT!..due to the GPS!

I have been MECP certified professional installer for 6 years and currently work for Car Toys.

Focals sound nice, in my opinion, pioneer D series speakers sound just as good and aren't so pricey.

A nav unit wont say squat if you exceeding the speed limit, the speed indicator just turns red on the screen (and you can remove it from the HUD).

I personally have...

Alpine CDE-HD148BT
Alpine SPS-610 up front
Diamond audio 6x9 components in the back (woofers, no tweets or crossover)
Alpine 4 channel amp pushing 50 watts RMS
No subwoofer, I like having a spare tire.

I live a mile from work, so I never really even put the face of my deck on. If it wasn't for that, I'd have nicer stuff.

I Slipped a little 10" sub in the spare tire slot. the box is kind of wedge shaped...and is wedged in there. it REALLY makes the audio not sound so gutless with cheap pioneer speakers

I've got 4 Cadence Comp 6x9's and 6000 watt amp so I think I got the back covered.
Going to toss 2 8 inch subs in the rear strut towers..again.

and the Nav on the AVIC does speak to you vocally about exceeding speed.

That's lame.

Keep in mind all the song and dance you got to do with the parking brake with a pioneer...

If you have the time/money I would HIGHLY recommend getting a bluetooth unit. I snaked the wire up the A pillar trim, under the front windshield trim and dropped the mic off to the drivers side of the sunroof console. You would never know it was there and makes it so much more pleasant to drive and chat.

Pioneer AVN-X1500DVD
Original Double Din Brackets
Custom ABS surround

6" Pioneer in towers
12" Bobo sub
1000w Sony Amp

I usually splurge on the higher end of the Pioneer double din dvd players, but I decided for this car that I only drive about twice a month I would go on the lower end. I like the pioneers because they mesh flawlessly with an iphone/ipod. The GUI has all the same features when it comes to looking up an artist so it is very intuitive.

/\/\..exactly what I am going for..That Look right there!
Just trying to figure out the NAV side of things.
You can update that unit with a module but the damn thing is about 400 bucks...extra.
My thinking is that If I get one with the NAV built in then I don't need the extra **** in my dash.
Thanks for the Pic,Fal.

Do you have a smartphone? Yes? Problem solved, save yourself the extra $$ and forget the NAV for the radio, you have it on your phone. Thats the best part of a 7, you get lost, you enjoy the ride to get unlost, no NAV required

I'd think with the way that the damn thing guzzles gas you could use the "Points of interest" feature and map out ALL freakin Gas stations..hahhahhaa!.

Check this out.
Avic 6000NEX..not the top of the line, just doesn't have the Pinch/zoom capacative screen.

Ps..sometimes get lost going from the kitchen to the bathroom..haha!...(what was I doing?...stands there, scratches head..!..FFFTTTT..eww..Oh ya..I know now..)

And it probably wouldn't guzzle so much as if you wouldn't try and make the engine suck the intake into the engine......course, hard not to the way you have yours built

Boston Acoustics 5-1/4" components in the doors, Eclipse EA4200 amp (3-channel operation), JL Audio 6.5" subwoofer, and pair it with the source components of your choice. I'm running a Clarion EQ/preamp and a vintage Clarion AM/FM cassette player and a Parrot bluetooth/MP3 player. No rear speakers needed.

I've used this head unit in a few of my cars for years now. Has bluetooth audio and has been awesome. I've got some kinda mid-priced Pioneers all around and it does not sound to shabby....relatively inexpensive too.

Installed a brand new precision power amp today in a prius. As soon as I saw it, it reminded me of your post.

Ya..too many Gofast parts that seem to make the intake want to bury itself inside the engine.Sort of like Jobbadahut(sp?) getting hungry.
