What is this

On the passanger side of the car mounted next to the speacker under the glove box is a gold box with a lot of wires going into it, what is this?

theft-deterent control unit, maybe? does it have a lot of blue & green wires (with different colored stripes) going to it?

It could either be your speaker amplifier or the theft-deterrent control box.

if its the theft deterant do i need to keep it or can i scrap it?

so if i rip it out its not gonna disable my ignition or anything. Thanks guys, im putting my 7 on a diet so anything that doesnt have a purpose is going to the scrap heep.

I was checking out the wiring diagram before I told ya to rip it out, of course there's only a "box" where the internal circuitry would be, so I can't really tell...I've been planning on ripping mine out for a while now...The things I see that MIGHT be affected are the door switch circuits (courtesy light control, stuff like that)...Obviously, if something goes funky after you pull it, just plug it back up...can't weigh more than a quarter pound, anyway...
