Question What is it???

Just under the passenger headlight (flip them up) there is a cylinder shaped bottle with a pipe comming into it on one end from the engine bay and a tube comming out if it aimed at the ground. What is this and can I get rid of it?

Sounds like the relief silencer for the rubber tube going to the ACV..

If you've blocked the ACV, then remove it

I gots a question.

I blocked off my ACV, but will need to put it back on when I need to pass emissions in about a year. I remove that muffler now, will I need to put it back on when I test, or will it be fine without it?

Then I don't know if you can remove it.. Based on the FSM description, it just sounds like a muffler, no big whoop. But I don't know if it serves any other function.

I say disconnect it from the ACV, drive around for a while, and reconnect it if something's wrong.

Is it the metal cylinder thing with a 'peephole" on top?? I thought that was the A/C condenser?

The A/C Condenser is the cylinder to the right of the passenger headlight. Near the coolant overfill tank.

You can remove the air silencer if you want, but there's no point. Removal will cause the ACV to emit strange honking noises...though it may sound sort of like a BOV...

it's the reliefe silencer,

if you block off the relief hose from the acv when you put the acv back on you might have some ill effects from the acv. Best bet is to put it all back on so you know it's back to normal operating condition.

it's not difficult to reinstall all of it, you don't have to put every bolt in exact places where they were. Just toss the sucka in for you test and yank it back out if all goes well.
That's what I do and it works.
