Went over bump, car shut off, no spark
So I was driving like 3 days ago on my way to work when I went over a speed bump and my car shut off. I pulled off to the side of the road to try and start it again and it just cranks and cranks. Popped the hood and its not getting spark. Their's power going to the coils, but not coming out of them to go to the distributor.
How would I go about testing the modules? The "H271" module right by the firewall and the little metal box next to it.
Car is a S5 swaped to carb'd.

ok i had the same problem once 2, turn out to be a blown fuse, it was the engine fuse under the dash i replace it and she fired again. In the aus model its under the dash on the kick panel need the acceleator but we are left hand drive so i dont no where urs will be but try that first its the engine fuse

I'm in the process of ripping out the whole old harness. Heres a picture of what I've done so far. It's what one of my friends dads told me to do. He has a BP first gen that he races at the track that he put together himself so I know he knows what hes talking about. He's the one that pretty much guided me through my swap over the phone.
Coils are wired directly to the ignition. No juice coming out. I'm guessing that means coils need to be replaced?

Well, since it's first generation coil/distributor, you might swap the ignitors on the distributor and see if that changes things. Or see if the ignitors are getting power.
This forum isn't going to do you any good since it's populated mostly by second generation people with second generation knowledge. Most of us/them wouldn't know where the ignitors for a first generation ignition system is in the first place unless they owned a first generation car at one time in life.
A thread/post in the first generation forum would do you more good OR simply look at the first generation wiring schematics for a first generation car. After all, you've a first generation coil(s) and distributor.

I use a test light to see if power is getting to the coils and it lights up. I put the test light INSIDE the coil and it doesn't light up...

Ok. I solved the spark problem. It ended up being that I was only firing on trailing before and that the coil did go. Replaced the coils and found out that I had the plug backwards on my ignitors.
Odd problem now. When I go to crank it, it'll crank, but then stop(the entire motor will stop in place, but then keep turning). Like the timing is set way to early or something. Any ideas?
