weird sound when building up boost

all i have is a hks intake and open atmospere modded stock blow off valve. *note this happened before and after the bov mod. i'm pretty sure i do have vacuum leaks if this could cause the problem, but i'm afraid it might be detonation.

under hard acceleration when boost is building for example, in 2nd, full-throttle going through 3500 on up when building boost there's a weird sound that comes out of the engine bay. it sounds like two metal things hitting each other, sounds sort of like a small stone in a washing machine, sort of pulsating and around 6k it sort of disappears or its just drowned out by the engine. let me know what you guys think.

this is a 1987 tII

Sounds like your engine is pinging or detonating. Have you tried using a higher octane?

Hrm.. wierd. There is no way you should be detonating w/ 93 or hitting fuel cut (you are only boosting like 5psi). There has to be a fucked up bearing or something.

well... i said the same thing to myself. then i got to thinking whats the most likely problem that i didn't check. and i found it, the previous owner switched the leading 2 with the trailing 1 which was causing the problem.

thanks for your time.

Ok so the only thing done to the car at all is an intake and your modded stock bov? No FCD or exhaust work?
