Weird powersteering question

Well, my friend picked up a RX-7 today and test drove it. We both own S4's. His is a SE and mine is a TII. Anyway, both our cars don't have powersteering, but his is WAY lighter than mine, I'd say mine about 3 times heavier. We both checked the cars and the powersteering pump is gone. So any answers?

Perhaps yours was converted (still has power rack with capped lines)
while his has the manual rack. That's just a guess, though.

the TII came with power steering standard and the SE probably didn't . how many turns is his lock to lock compared to yours? the power steering rack is like 2.4 and the manual is 3.5 or something.

The cars that got the 15.2:1 ratio racks are as follows:
The 86-89 GXL, 86-87 Sport, 88-89 GTU, 86-87.5 Base, 87.5-88 SE, 86-87.5 Luxury, 87-91 US spec Turbo, and the 88-89 Vert that were equipped with power steering

No, power steering on S4 Turbos was an option and only about 50% of them came with it. So not standard.

And all SE models came with power steering standard.

So unless he really does not have a SE (and really has a Base which some people confuse with SE models since they both have 4 lug wheels) your suggestion wouldn't work.

Oh, yea, he has a S4 base. His car feels as if it already has powersteering.

Then as PureSephiroth suggested (sort of) your car probably had power steering and it was removed.

Or your manual rack is in bad need of lube

How about...
Your TII runs 205 wide tires stock; you might be even running 225's on your car?
I believe the base model ran 195 wide tires...maybe even 185's?
