Weight Removal; A/C System

Is there a way remove the A/C condenser (I think it's the condenser) without removing the Dash?

Edit; Evaporator

It's running bareblock as it is. The lines have been cut; I just want it out of there.

Are you referring to the thing in front of the radiator or the thing on the block? I always get those two confused.

The one on the block by itself empty weighs around 17lbs with the bracket. The one in front of the rad weighs almost nothing, but it might help cooling alittle if you remove it.

The evaporator is under the glove box. You got to get under there and look for three 10mm bolts. A black box will drop out. You will have to unclip the box and bingo. It's easy but not easy on your back.

Even though I live in an area where it is usually around 80* or higher it does and will go down below 40 in the comming months. I drive my FC a lot and don't want to be stuck in the cold.

IIRC you will need to get the ducting from a model that came from the factory without A/C. No big deal, and I think that it is only like $17 from the dealer if you cant find it in a junkyard..

When you take the evaporator out of the box, it does leave two holes. Mazda should have one without a/c, at least that what I was told. I tried mazda parts dept. and they looked at me like I was crazy.

So I used a high quality duct tape and some high temp epoxy. Worked great.

The heat works better now and so does the fan. As it frees up air resistance within the system.

There was an 88SE in my local junkyard with no A/C. Remember, it was just an option on the lower models. Most people opted for it though...
