Weight reduction question...

On n/a. Im going to get an aluminum hood. I think they weigh 22pds but someone correct me if im wrong... anyways U know that metal crap under the hood. I was thinking of getting a dremal and cutting it all to save even more on the aluminum hood. But what if it was functional?? I wouldnt think so. It also hits my filter ever so slightly.... How much more wight can be saved. 5pds would justify the work for me..

anyone??

The aluminum hood is a lot lighter. I picked mine up by myself no problem, even though it was very big. I would not cut the stuff under the hood. Every time you close the hood, it could warp the aluminum. It bends/dings VERY VERY easy (trust me ), so be very careful whatever you do.

If you have a steel hood make sure that you change the hinges to aluminum or it will go to **** pretty soon. Chemical reaction that causes rust.

I wouldn't cut the aluminum supports out. It's fairly floppy now, and it's light enough that I can install it solo..
