Sheez, that's fricken' light!&nbsp Care to tell us what exactly did you do to get the weight down that low?&nbsp I would think getting it down to about 2500# would be a major pain!&nbsp 2500# = ~1136kg.

Ok inside your doors are a anti-crash bars
wieghts like 30+ pounds x2

lighter rims then the stock ones
there you could save some wieght

plastic smaller gas tank
fiberglass hood
take out the metal bumpers and just leave the covers

yea
well you know the bumper covers are made of plastic urethane

under those are the METAL (heavy) Bumper's

Take out the bumpers and put the covers back on and no one can tell you dont have bumpers

except when you get into an accident
then you can tell

Have you removed the most heaviest parts of the car???

Such as:

I will remove power steering, stereo/speakers/cables, A/C/compressors, resonator/air box and replace it with CAI, rear seats, trunk struts, washer fluid pump and bootle, center console.

I'd only worry about the bumper skin deforming at speed, without the metal support. Haven't seen one without the metal underneath, so it may not be an issue.

I wouldn't do much to the doors, they are heavy, but unless you're prepared to remove the windows entirely, you're pretty much stuck with it. You could use a hole saw and drill some of the metal out, I suppose, but for the effort involved, probably not worth it.

Lexan rear hatch might be worthwhile. Being on the rear, it won't get pitted like a windshield would, it's lightweight, and if you take care of it, it'll be just fine. Kinda pricey though. Mazda Comp sells them, if you're interested.

What trim model RX? My 86 base/lightweight was 2450# w/ just AC, airpump, cats, rear speakers and some other little bits removed. Do you have a sunroof mechanism- that could go. Manual windows, mirrors etc? Alum hood and spare?

There is a company, I can't remember the name right now, makes lexan windows with a coating that won't scratch. I don't know If they make anything for the 7 though.

Edit:
Found the article from May 2002 SCC
The most modern of the exterior details is the scratch-resistant Lexan right rear window. Lexan windows on rally cars are usually scratched to the verge of opacity since the simple act of wiping dirt from them will leave permanent scars. The Percy's Speedglass used on the EVO II, however, has a scratch-resistant coating hard enough to withstand steel wool. The lightweight right rear window serves both as a weight-saving device and....

Are you sure those scales are accurate?? 2500 lbs seems a bit too low to me... especially considering the small amount of stuff removed...

Ha ha, you doubters don't have Base models w/ the aluminum package do you? On the same scale my 87 TII was ~2800 lbs (don't remember exactly 'cause I wasn't proud of it). I'm slowly working on the pig...

I am deciding wether I should get the hand roll window RX-7 or the one with power windows.

For some stange reason, the one with power windows is a much better deal........

Anyone knows if I can replace the stock power windows with a manual unit?

Obviously you have some strange configuration of impact bars under your bumper covers or you have never removed them. The metal bumpers you refer to are made of a fiber material that looks like hard gray plastic and weigh about 12# each. The mounting brackets for them are about 6# and there are two per impact bar(front and rear). If you total all that together you save a total of 48# or 24# on the front or rear. Not worth it on a street car as it can be dangerous if you rear end someone or i you get rear ended yourself.

Plus at high speeds, the nose tends to get pushed in.
