weight reduction

i am currently trying to lighten my 90 gxl as it will be going into the shop within a month to get some body work, and engine work done in about a month. the goal for weight reduction is as light as possible while maintaining most options. ac, pwr locks and windows, etc are staying. pwr steering might go not sure yet. My questions are

1.do power mirrors have any weight in them at all?? this include wiring the whole setup. if so is it worth removing?

2.I changed suspension how much wieght is left from my AAS left in the car? is it worth removing?

3.i re-wired the cars speakers are the stock wires worth removing?

i have removed the tar from underneath the carpet along with the heavy mat as well. i am getting an alluminum hood, i got a alluminum jack, anything i am missing? and dont say custom dashboard. i want the car to appear stock for the most part

The power options weigh very little more than manual ones. If you don't plan on towing your car with a friends truck, then you can remove the front and rear tow hooks. They are about 15lbs total. Pretty much any tow-truck could tow you, but most friends wont be able to. There is more weight to be lost under the hood if you dont have to pass emissions.

Id say emissions equipment (air pump acv check out this site: http://www.1300cc.com/howto/how2/pumpACV.htm) is good for 15 pounds, then tow hooks like BDoty said.

1.do power mirrors have any weight in them at all?? this include wiring the whole setup. if so is it worth removing?
Do you mean like convert them to roll-up? If so I dunno if its worth the trouble, I mean how much could a window motor weigh (or am I being an idiot and its heavy)?

2.I changed suspension how much wieght is left from my AAS left in the car? is it worth removing?
I dont know much about AAS (mine didnt have it) but is it just wiring harnesses and ****, or is there someother stuff? If its not hard to remove then I would rip it out, just to make it neater and maybe a couple pounds.

3.i re-wired the cars speakers are the stock wires worth removing?
Nope, not worth the 1 pound savings to tear up the car.

I would move the battery to the rear of the car (balances out weight a little better and frees up some space up front - heres a how-to: http://www.1300cc.com/howto/how2/frontend/phase1.htm). It sucks you need AC cause thats a good 40 pounds right there. You should keep power steering, IMO its a bitch to drive without it (but im used to it - only one car Ive owned didnt have it, some 1970s beater chevy). Maybe light-weight rims? Good luck!

the reason i want ac is this is a daily driver and ac can come in really handy during the summer.

tow hooks. the car is lowered and if i put my custom front bumper on i will be very low to the ground. which means i will most likely need to use a flatbed to be towed. Do i need the tow hooks for this?

From my thought, the AAS bit is not worth removing for weight reasons. The two from the rear combined weigh maybe 1 pound, tops.

Well if you dont have tow hooks, the tow truck will probably use your front sway bar or something else up there, if its lowered and has a low front bumper, Id say keep the hooks. You can still remove the back ones though, and word of the wise you should fill the holes with some sillicone or something to keep road noise down.

Lose all emissions, strip all the sound deadening and carpet in your car. Convert to Manual Rack. Problem solved. If you really want to save more weight, go single exhaust. You can save rougly 50 lbs. or so and you'll still have comfort with your a/c but everything outside of the car (i.e. tire noise) will be loud.

i took my p/s off and left the power rack in. i like it alot. there are 2.5 turns lock to lock with the power rack and 3 turns lock to lock with the manual. the faster turn rate is worth the effort. also, ditch everything dealing with AAS. get kybs or something and some decent springs and you will never miss the aas. i dont belive that the stock suspension will work if you remove aas. you have to go with stock replacement (for a model without aas) or go aftermarket.
i would personally leave the towhooks. im a weigh reduction fanatic (already lost about 300lbs) and i want to keep the hooks just in case. you should consider the a/c and p/s removal. thats where i decent chunk of my lost weight came from. that bracket alone weighs almost 10 lbs by itself!
