weard stalling problems.

hey this isnt happening right now but it usualy happens randomly at any given time/date for 2-3 days in a row. anyways my car will drive normal with absolutly no problems and then out of no where it wants to die on me and act weard all the time. What usually happens is im driving and then when i let the pushthe clutch in to slow down it will eather just stall(if i dont give it gas before it does) or the rpm's will go all the way to 0RPM jump back up very fast to about 1000RPM then to 0 again... ive let it go before (without holding the gas at about normal idle speed to keep it running) and sometimes it will eventualy go back to 700 and stay there or it will stall and i have to start it again. Sometimes it will jump up and down like this 5-6+ times before it decides to eather stall or run right. Like sayd before once it happens it wants to do it for a few days after that then will totaly go away for a while, but it doesnt do it every single time i press the clutch in to stop, sometimes it will act normal and then the next time do it again(all this is goin on during this 2-3day period). So Basicly its totaly random and does it when it feels like it. Have Fun Figuring this out, cuz i have no idea.

i've posted about this before since it happens to me as well. the general consensus seems to be that the ground from the firewall to bellhousing is bad. which is why it sometimes die when you push the clutch in. i still havent replaced the ground yet but will. from all the stuff i read on this board it seems replacing/adding better grounds in your car really helps eliminate the common quirky problems on these cars. good luck!

same thing happens to me (automatic) but only when its cold. what time of day does it happen to you when its hot? cold? let cooled down and started again? overheating? you know what are the temperature conditions of the car when it does it?

as for weather conditoins, it was always random. it's happened when my car was still cold and also after a 30mile drive. but always when i pushed the clutch in as i slowed down.

i dont see how that could do it but mabe. i have a ground kit on my xar right now. it doesnt like stall when im sitting there then push the clutch in its only when im coming to a stop or held the clutch in long enugh for the rpms to go all the way down. get what im saying i cant just have my car sitting there and i press the clutch in and it stall. my car also stalls as cold startups most of the time i usualy just blip the gas and it will go through its noramal warmup cycle

i dont quite understand it either but like i said, most of the guys w/ this problem have had it solved by replacing that particular ground(bellhousing to firewall) w/ something better. just try it. it wont harm anything. oh and the stall would only happen under load.

the ground from the bell housin to the firewall is the ecu ground. if it was bad it could definately cause this problem. you dont really need a ground strap for it. just a fairly thick peice of wire and a female spade connector. when you look at it youll know what i mean

yeah the ecu ground goes to the inside of the firewall. then, on the outside of the firewall, there is a male spade which grounds to the bellhousing just underneath the upper intake manifold
