Water temp gauge installation

So this must be pretty straight forward as I can't find any thread describing this in detail. I did find a thread that indicated you should tap into the water pump, but is there no way to install it without drilling???
BTW I have a VDO electrical with temp sensor (I'll have to look up the exact size of the sensor).
Any help is more than welcome as usual.

Read this thread about my radiator installation for how I installed the sender for the water temp gauge.

Basically no. it appears that no aftermarket gage senders use the same thread as the stock gauge sender on the rear plate, and the next best location is on the back of the water pump. if you don't have the tools to drill and tap a new hole then take the pump and sender to a mechanic or engineering shop. It'll probably only take them ten minutes.

Can someone please put up a picture of where exactly on the back of the water pump the sensor should be place? Thanks
